Are you trying to place it in your city? If so the resource generating buildings (mines, quarry etc) can only go in specific places, next to the resource generating areas. These should be highlighted when you are placing it.

I have a similar problem.My castle is Level 15 and I have a 5th iron mine to add but cannot place it as the location remains "red"
I have resources and everything yet it won't allow placement.
I also moved another mine into that position to test it and it proves the position is not wrong.
Please help!

The resource areas in your city are limited to only 4 production buildings each. There will be 3 total resource areas for each production type around but you may need to expand your city to find them. Have a look around for another 'iron deposit' to place the fifth building at. Add your answer
