How to lessen my troops consumption on food and lumber? And also sometimes it falls to zero troops consumption, how does it works?

The consumption is based on the number of troops you have. The only way to reduce t is to kill off troops. But the game has a set minimum that if your warehouse stock goes below then the consumption stop (drops to 0) so you do not run out of the resources.
If you play regularly then you will earn food and lumber in rewards, these will be store in your items and can be used when needed for upgrades etc. So its easy to ignore the consumption and just keep your stocks of food and lumber items for when you need them.

The consumption is 0 if the food / wood is below 700 k. So the best option is to keep the level of food and wood around that number, lets say up to 650 k. Spend the rest building and upgrading, training soldiers, etc. Add your answer
