How can I keep food consumption down?

Food is consumed by Footmen and Archer Troops. The more you have the higher will be the consumption. You can kill off troops if you want to lower it.
It is better though to not worry about this and concentrate on completing as many challenges (hourly challenges, clash of provinces etc) as you can to earn rewards, these will include boxes of food that are not consumed but can be used when needed.
