How to save charcoal or reduce usage?

There are a lot of buildings consuming charcoal. Disconnecting all involved buildings from all roads you decrease charcoal consumption. Buildings do their work although disconnected. E.g.: mints, encampments and all storages consume charcoal.
Check on u'r own all the rest by disconnecting one by one and checking it's impact on consumption (tap on top rss bar on "charcoal" and look at consumption).
Btw: disconnecting all storages from all roads prevent the stored rss to be looted!
Only the rss in use (shown in the top rss bar) will be looted.

I want to know about charcoal consumption specifically, but the link takes you to food consumption by troops. 1 0 REPORT

Hulk is wrong about a few points… mints, like all production buildings, need a road to operate, and removing roads to storages will not spare any rss from attacks… Buildings like training grounds, bar, encampments, all but one hospital, and tavern can be removed from roads to save charcoal.

Tavern is the biggest culprit. disconnect it.Are you sure that disconnecting storages will prevent looting? I have tested with my farm and haven't found any basis to this claim.

You too little storage if you disconnect storage. I don't see where disconnecting a Tavern makes a difference. Keep it connected and starve it is what most people do
