Most people use the farm accounts to generate extra resources, then attack it when needed with their main base to take the resources. You can also use additional bases to help you in the team national quests if you keep them as the same class as your main.

But Make Sure you First Upgrade all the rrs research in that farm account...also sum Don't care about the hero's in there farms, I do, better hero's means faster farming, so upgrade your hero's and also upgrade the station hero's..So that's 3 things that make a farm...1..Do research for resources..2.. Upgrade hero's for farming (so they farm Alot of rrs) 3.. Upgrade station hero's so that you get a good return that Stays on your farm..but as long as the buildings are the same lvl as the farm you should be fine to start farming
