For the Clash of Province events there are 2 research trees that affect your scoring and effectiveness.

Zone Commemoration will improve the amount of points you can earn and your non combat abilities like building, gathering etc. All the things you do Monday to Friday.

Zone Conflict will give you benefits for attacking and defending during the weekend kill events as well as better medical tent capacity.
