What happens when you make an alliance surrender to you for a merge?

When 2 alliances merge the one that surrenders will close and all members of that alliance will transfer over to become members of the dominant alliance.

Key point is, what happens to alliance technologies? will they combined by adding tech from surrender to incorporate, or surrended alliance tech will be lost?
