What is the benefit of hero levels?

In all heroes you will need to reach certain level to be able to unlock skills. And in a few heroes the level will affect how good the skill is. (combat heroes can have more troops under their commend at higher levels).

Its not important for all heroes but your orange and purple combat heroes will definitely benefit.
