Why do some players ask that you only send 1 troop to rally, if the only benefit is to the 2nd party not having to heal their troops what's the point of they don't care.?
It will depend on the troops sent but if the person running the rally is strong enough to defeat the lair on their own and the others joining are sending lower level troops, then the leader will also take less damage (less wounded) if the others only sent 1 troop. It is better for them as well.
It is an odd feature of the combat that if 20,000 T5 troops join 20,000 T8 troops then more of both sets of troops will die than if only 1 T5 troop joins. (assuming the T8's can win the fight)

You get benefit of lair stuff also. Recently discovered sending full troup of cars even better for person running lair
If everyone sends one troop it removes the chance that someone will err and send the incorrect troop type. As said above sometimes people are testing their strength to see what percentage they are at. There's a lot of strange math that goes into lairs. Generally speaking here's how we run them:
Fighter initiates: riders, shooters, or cars.
Rider initiates: Shooters or cars.
Shooter initiates: cars.
The only time we send same troop type is if requested and the sender needs to have similar stats to the initiator. If the sender has worse stats, the overall strength of the frontline troops is diminished and you will suffer a lot of casualties, even if you defeat the lair. When your top end players have researched their respective troop formations they will be able to accept any troop type other than matching.
