I Am Innocent

Part 12: Carl's Computer

Part 12: Carl's Computer
I Am Innocent Guide

Last Updated:

Ghost will notify you that someone is out trying to hack Carl’s computer. As a friend of course, you’ll do everything in your power to protect Carl from this hacker - even if the way to do that is having you hack Carl’s computer first. Nonetheless, time is of the essence, and you are the only person that could save Carl from this upcoming intrusion this unknown person.

With you watching Carl’s back, he on the other hand will perform a stake out of Finch’s house for you and unveil something intriguing about his medications and their specified schedules. Having learned about this matter, you’ll end up confronting Dr. Harlowe to explain the matter. As you are closing in on the truth of the matter, people in the story becomes more shifty and agitated, and the quest to ask people the right questions puts you in a very hard position.

Important notes: Usually, every chapter will require you to earn four stars in order to advance in its accompanying story. Although in some instances, you’ll have to progress further than 4 star, or sometimes be thrown in a few updates from people in between the required stars. Every remaining required star will cost you as much as 10 coins if you wish to skip playing and progress in the story [e.g. three (3) remaining stars to collect is equivalent to paying 30 coins to skip playing the puzzle part and progress in the story - which will generally unlock the levels too, or after revealing all levels, move to open the concluding chapter].

Below are the relatively important conversation pieces in this chapter, which contains the varied responses that you’ll have, and their appropriate consequences. It is up to you to pick how you’d want to grow your relationship with the involved characters, in order to help you progress in the story.

When you get past the required stars (5 stars) in this chapter, you’ll get updates from your contacts. First of which is from Dr. Harlowe. As he promised, he’ll get back on you with your question yesterday.

Dr. Harlowe:

-I think you wanted to hear about Erwin Finch, right?

(neutral): Do you think he’s a serial killer?

*(neutral): Why did you turn him in to the police? (we went for this question because it honestly was more intriguing to us)

He then explains himself as a professional, about the stuff that he found out regarding Finch psychological disorder -- revealing that the trauma from Finch’s childhood, has developed into some sort of an alternate entity inside him, that tends to do all these serial killings when it takes over (Finch). Of course, this simply could not be proven by the doctor’s words alone, and so you’d be hesitant to believe the words that he just said. Nonetheless, the conversation would just be short and he’d actually just be able to grant you answer to that single question before he goes offline.

At the end of this conversation, you’d be thrown in to the puzzle games again for another 5 stars before you get additional progress to the story line. And when you actually manage to accumulate these additional stars (probably around 62% completion of this chapter), you’ll then receive a message from Carl.

On his way back (home and from Finch’s house), he dropped by a laboratory and had the pills analyzed and will be given the results a bit later. He’d also tell to that he was supposed to meet with Stella today although he could get a hold of her as her phone is off.

Carl:

-We were supposed to meet at her house today, but her phone is off.

(neutral): I think we should wait a bit before calling the police.

*(neutral): No, I don’t. But I don’t like it. (we chose this because it showed a particular concern to Stella)

Aside from this, Carl would also tell you stuff about his daughter, and even send you a picture of the gift he’ll be giving her. He’d then ask you for your thoughts about the gift.

Carl:

-Do you like it?

(improve): Nice

(deteriorate): Why not a dog or something?

After this conversation, you’d be hearing from the kidnapper next (ID 20460). While he is blabbering about some “God’s judgement” stuff, you receive a call from an unknown ID. During the call, you’d hear a person that is seemingly gasping from shortness of breath -- which is probably Finch on his poor and weakly state (after being tortured by the kidnapper for his confession). Then, the last message of the kidnapper would tell you that you have two days left (basically before he tortures Finch to death).

After this, you’ll be able to jot things down in your Diary bot. Then, Ghost will message you asking if you were able to protect your friend. You can collect the remaining stars to (you are currently at 62% completion by this point) to respond “yes”, or otherwise choose the other option (I wasn’t able to. Anyway, I don’t think it’s anything serious).

We did collect the remaining stars before we’ve proceeded with replying to Ghost’s question with “Yes” - which means you’ll have to play a lot of puzzles in order to continue with this option.

By this point (when you’ve reached 100% completion on the chapter), Carl will be the one to message you first -- asking you where Stella is.

Carl:

-I think we should call the police.

*(neutral): I know where we can find her. I’ll go get her today. (we just went this one)

(neutral/deteriorate): If there’s a problem, I’ll call you. I’m the last one she spoke with.

She spoke with you? When?

*(neutral): A couple of days ago, We had a fight. (we went with this one for no substantial reason :))

(neutral): Yeah, very recently. She’ll be okay.

After this, a marker on Carl would show up saying “Carl remember your relationship!” which is something we guess to point you on a specific ending or sort. Our guess is (or at least our best assumption), you should do everything in your power to avoid involving the police in the matter so that the kidnapper would not kill Finch and so we went with replying as such to Carl.

Nonetheless, after this, Stella (Ex) will be the one to message you. It turns out, she’s at her grandma’s house and is taking care of her. Her message reassures you that she’s fine, and that she also wrote/notified Carl the same stuff.

There would also be an update from Kerim, telling you that there is something that we could do to speed up the process. Basically, you’ll need to access the Road inspection database to see if there was a particular spot that has been accessed several times during the past few days.

Finally, Carl would then get back to you and tell you that the lab results came back. In the findings, the pills were made up of Calcium Carbonate -- or chalk.

Carl:

-They’re calcium carbonate.

(neutral): What!?

(neutral): Is that what I think it is?

It turns out, Finch’s pills are a placebo. They just don’t do anything. And then, there is something else -- he’ll re-send the photo he found when he was on Finch’s house detailing the day on the pill bottle. Basically, it was given a few days before one of the victims (Sonia Bloom) was killed.

Carl:

-Maybe that’s why he doesn’t remember it. After all, the placebo did nothing to help his disorder.

(neutral)Are you saying he could have committed murder and then remembered nothing?

*(neutral): This could just be an accident. We’ll need to ask his doctor. (leads you to confront Dr. Harlowe about it).
