Part 10: Witness Protection System

Part 10: Witness Protection System
I Am Innocent Guide

Last Updated:

Kracher has recently revealed that the person that have actually turned Erwin Finch to the authorities was no other than his very own attending psychiatrist Dr. Harlowe. The curious thing is why he gave him up? To dig deeper to the truth, you’ll have to locate the doctor and have hear his side of the story. The problem is that Dr. Harlowe is in the witness protection program, and details about him can only be earned through hacking the witness protection system.

Similar to the previous stages, unlock the stage by simply clicking on the “search for password” and viola! You have 6 more levels to play that are ever as hard to beat. In the new chapter, a new level-specific hack will be introduced. Level-specific hacks are hacks similar to you permanent ones but can only be used in that pertaining level. To use them, you’ll have to reach a certain requirement (which is usually a number of bricks to obtain). When you fulfill the given requirement, you can use that pertaining hack. In this game, the lightning hack will be introduced - which lets you destroy 3 random squares in the layout.

Story-wise, a lot of new details will unfold, and hear a different side of the story from Finch’s very own psychiatrist. The thing is, the evidences and the stories you hear do not match up. Everyone has something to say, and you are left with nothing but to follow your instinct to dig deeper in hope to reveal whether Finch is truly the culprit, or a victim himself.

Important notes: Usually, every chapter will require you to earn four stars in order to advance in its accompanying story. Although in some instances, you’ll have to progress further than 4 star, or sometimes be thrown in a few updates from people in between the required stars. Every remaining required star will cost you as much as 10 coins if you wish to skip playing and progress in the story [e.g. three (3) remaining stars to collect is equivalent to paying 30 coins to skip playing the puzzle part and progress in the story - which will generally unlock the levels too, or after revealing all levels, move to open the concluding chapter.

Below are the relatively important conversation pieces in this chapter, which contains the varied responses that you’ll have, and their appropriate consequences. It is up to you to pick how you’d want to grow your relationship with the involved characters, in order to help you progress in the story.

When you reach about 25% completion on this chapter, you’ll have a nice bit of update from your contacts. But before anything else, you’ll be asking a question to Tiana, once she goes online.

(You): I’ve got a question about your father.

Tiana:

- Hi, what question?

(neutral): Did you know he was sick?

*(neutral): Have you noticed anything strange about his behavior?

-Yes, I know he’s sick. Something with his nerves. Actually, last time I saw him he took some kind of pills. And complained that they weren’t working. I saw that the bottle was strange too. No label, Just a date. Nothing really unusual though. Just some white pills.

*(neutral): White? Are you sure?

(neutral/deteriorate): You must be mistaken. The pills were light blue.

- No, I’m sure. But I don’t remember the date. What are you getting at?

(neutral): I don’t know yet. But I need to talk to Dr. Harlowe.

*(neutral): Could you give me the address of the house your father lives at?

Unfortunately, this is what we’ve picked to respond to her which might have bring her defenses up saying stuff like she does not like where this is leading at and that you might plan on harming his father (of course she does not know the current predicament of Finch).

In our case, after screwing it up, Ghost will be online -- where you’ll be asking him to track Finch’s last known address instead. And then finally, everything (meaningful updates) can be jotted down to your Diary Bot, and off you go to more puzzles!

By the time you’ve bagged more stars to earn you 50% completion on the chapter, some of your contact will message you yet again, first of which would be Finch (ID 15090).

A desperate Finch would go about detailing his agony in the predicament he’s in. You’ll basically be asking him in return what color of pills did his doctor gave him -- which he replies he doesn’t remember. He’ll tell you to ask Tiana instead.

ID 15090:

- Have you talked with her yet?

(improve): Yes, I have. She believes you.

(deteriorate): No, I haven’t (we thought that it would make sense lying to him)

He’ll thank you in return, and you’ll end up telling him that you’ll continue with your investigation. That is pretty much there is in this point. That said, it’s time for more puzzles!

When you reach about 75% completion on this chapter, you’ll have a bit of a disappointment from update from your contacts this time, as the only message for you would be coming Ghost -- basically updating you about the request you had asking for Finch’s last known address. After that, Kracher would be the next one to message you. Basically, this message asks you if you’ve already gotten ahold of the password which means you’d be left with more puzzles to solve until you complete the chapter requirements.

When you reach about 100% completion on this chapter however, be ready for some really intriguing updates. When you give the password to Kracher, he’ll be able to give you Dr. Harlowe’s contact info. You’d also reaffirm to him the time he told you that it was the doctor that turned in Finch. He said that the doctor called in when his patient matched the profile of the person they were looking for (serial killer), and that was just about the participation he had in the whole thing. After that, he’ll also leave you with Harlowe’s contact number (7022).

You’ll then have to add Dr. Harlowe to your contacts to get to him. When you try to contact him though, you’ll basically receive an auto-reply stating that he currently is in a conference today, and that you could reach him the following day.

After this, Carl would be online, and you’d basically ask him to break into Finch’s house and get a look at something there. Obviously, he’ll ask you if you’re being serious.

Carl:

- Are you being serious?

(neutral): Yes. Perfectly serious.

*(neutral): A man is in danger. (this is kind of insensitive as you are putting him in danger just as much, but this way, it’ll sound like a bit of a push for him to actually do it.)

- Well then :(

- Too bad. Let’s give it a try. As long as you tell me everything! I want to know what it is I’m taking this risk for.

(deteriorate): I’m too afraid to tell you details any sooner.

(improve): Alright, I’ll tell you everything at the meeting.

-Agreed. Come by this evening.

- If we actually decide to go ahead with this, we’re going to need something for the break-in. The blueprints for the house are stored at the architecture archive. I hope that’s something you can handle.

This basically leads you to the next chapter where you need to gain Finch’s house blueprints in order to pursue your plans of breaking in.
