Writing Hobby
The Sims™ Mobile Guide
Basic Requirements:
1. Player Level 132. Sim without a hobby3. Writer’s Block Desk4. Dining Chair (in front of Writer’s Block Desk)The Writing Hobby gets unlocked as soon as you reach Player Level 13 in Sims Mobile. This time around, Getting to the actual hobby would be a bit tricky -- especially if you don’t pay attention to minute details. If you are having difficulty in starting event for the writing hobby, the most probable culprit is that you haven’t purchased a chair to go with your writing desk.
Like the other two hobbies that you might have already tried, what you primarily need is a basic item to access the practice sessions. Here, it is the Writer’s Block Desk. To purchase one, simply check your catalog collections (icon on top of the Quest button). When you get there, you can go to the “Hobby Collections” to get you a filtered out list of items that are only related to hobbies.
Like with that of previous hobbies you’ve tried, see to it that there is ample room to both the desk and chair in order for it to work. Practice sessions do not happen autonomously, and so you’d still have to actually start them just like career shifts.
To start on a Hobby Event, you’ll have to pick the sim you wish to perform the particular hobby. Click on the sim (making sure he/she isn’t currently engaging on any other event), and then click on the “Writer’s Block Desk” to start a practice session. If for instance you can’t start an event, make sure that you’ve placed both the desk and chair correctly -- where the sim could actually access it (there will be green-colored footmark in the build mode to show if the item is accessible). Otherwise, the practice session would be grayed out and will list a pertaining requirement.
As you progress through the chapters of the Writing Hobby, you’ll eventually unlock other items related to the hobby itself. Since the hobby is basically inclined to writing, it would make sense that the stuff you’ll be able to unlock are relevant items like Pen and Ink, Typewriter, a Bookshelf, and similar items.
Chapters are played out similar to your career or relationship events. Here, your options are called “Practice Sessions”. There is an equivalent quick, standard, and long practice sessions, which rewards you with hobby points instead of career points. The chapters and your skill levels work the same as that of your career stories. Every time you get to a new chapter in a particular hobby, there will be some sort of starter events -- that will be played out similar to your typical practice session.

As you advance through the chapters of a hobby, the duration needed to qualify in these starter events become longer (e.g. 1st chapter is more like that of a Quick Practice Session, but during the 3rd to 4th chapter, they will most likely take 3-4 hours like that of a Standard Practice Session). Take note that the hobby points you earn here will be carried out to the next chapter.
Quick Practice Session - rewards 30 Hobby points (usually an hour)
Standard Practice Session - rewards 90 Hobby points (usually 3-4 hours)
