Retirement and Heirlooms
The Sims™ Mobile Guide

Added:

Upon reaching level 16 the option to retire your SIM/s will be made available. The first time retirement becomes available, you will be prompted to retire a SIM. When a SIM retires this does not necessarily mean that they will die or disappear from the game. In fact, after retirement, your SIM will be sort of an NPC in your home whom you may interact with.

While retirement is not a requirement, as you may opt to NOT retire a SIM, retirement also offers a real good perk: the availability of Heirlooms.

Heirlooms help your SIM unlock traits, career and hobby bonuses for the SIMS that will be left in your home. Depending on the Heirloom, your SIM may have additional bonuses when interacting with other SIMs or perhaps completing an event.

What happens after retirement?

Once you retire a SIM, your SIM will initially be staying in your place. You will notice that once you’ve retired your SIM’s hair will turn gray. Also, you will no longer be able to control your SIM once it has retired.

If you currently do not have a second controllable SIM once the first SIM retires, you will be prompted to create another SIM. After that, you will notice the picture in your home to have your new SIM together with your retired SIM.

Despite that, you may still be able to interact with your SIM. In fact you may even define what type of relationship you will have with. When interacting with your retired SIM, you will be holding relationship events wherein you will be mentored on career and or hobby points that your retired SIM learned before.

After some time, your retired SIM will be ready to move out. To know when your SIM is ready to move out, you will notice a Blue Cake Icon. After tapping that and allowing your SIM to move out you will no longer be able to interact with your retired SIM. He/she will also no longer be staying in your house.
