Building Relationships

What would a Sims game be without its social activities? It would probably be incomplete and boring -- especially from the perspective of the loyal fans of the franchise right? What's nifty about this mobile based game, is that the assortment of sim you'll get to interact with is not limited to the pre-fabricated lot designed by the game. Instead, you may interact with sims that were actually designed, made, and played by other players.

Additionally, you'll have plenty of relationship stories to unlock with as you play through the levels of the game. Sims mobile has designed a platform where you can tell these stories -- as if your very own sim has its life intertwined with other players' sims. For one thing, you can even marry other people's sim, and have a baby!

First things first. To actually get you started in any relationship in the game, you'll have to introduce your sim to any other character roaming your small world. Most of the time though, you'll probably get your chance to do this while you are at your home decorating or organizing stuff and probably get interested on someone simply passing-by. Not limited to this, you can also engage an acquaintance with sims that are randomly visiting your workplace, or anyone you see elsewhere like parties, or when visiting other locations in the game.

As long as you are not tied to an on-going event, you'll get the chance to introduce your sim to other sim at any point in time, anywhere in the game. To do this, simply pick the sim that you are interested with (not your own sim). When a person is engaged by your currently active/selected sim, you'll see an option to start an event.

When it is your first time speaking with that particular individual, you'll be given a choice to add him/her to your contact list or pick from a range of options of introducing yourself -- either starting a Friendly, Flirty, or Confrontational introduction. Adding the sim to your contact list do exactly what it says -- adding the sim to your contacts (probably for later use). This option is useful when you're currently on your work place and a particular sim catches your attention/liking.

Building Relationships

The three choices of introduction however, mainly filters the viable relationship stories that will be available for you (or your sim) to play with. For instance, if you pick the confrontational introduction, the next time you'll try to engage conversation with this character, you can start a "Starter Phase" event entitled "Begin a Rivalry". Typically, the event that would succeed any type of introduction is a "Starter Phase" event, which is usually and easily be concluded for about an hour (or less). Although, with additional micro-managing (using your energy points), you can complete a starter phase for less than 5 minutes, and consume most likely around 8 energy points.

After you've completed a starter phase (which would always reward you with 24 points -- exactly as needed to go past beyond this initial event), you can pick the pertaining relationship story that you'd want to pursue. For instance, in this confrontational introduction, you'll have these relationship stories to pick from;

Confrontational Introduction:

1. Arch-Nemeses (Bickering spirals into hatred)

2. Tainted Love (Sizzling passion? Prepare to get burned)

3. Frenemies (A friendship as cuddly as a cactus)

4. Old Rivals (An old adversary returns)

Whichever story you pick, you'll pretty much have fun seeing these participants do their antics. Especially with the "confrontational" options, the bickering part of the sims would never leave you bored playing.

Friendly Introduction:

5. Soundtrack of Soul (two friends resonate over a love of music)

6. Two Peas in an Odd Pod (two new friends agree to disagree)

7. Raincheck, Please (busy buds balance friendship with life)

8. Misery Loves Company (a pessimistic pal provides a unique take on life)

9. Geek Speak (two geeks form an alliance)

10. Sports Buddies (two buddies bond over a love of sports)

11. BFFs Forever (a tale of two besties)

12. Art Aficionados (artistic friends investigate a colorful mystery)

Flirty Relationships:

13. Tainted Love

14. The Fixer-Upper

15. Secret Crush

16. Soulmates

17. More than Friends with Benefits

18. A Missed Connection

Relationship Story with Special Pre-requisite (Retired Sim)

19. Better Late than Never

Why play Relationship Stories?

Relationship stories would usually reward you with apparel options when you complete their chapters. And though it might not seem too big of a catch for some, obtaining apparel variations is really appealing to a lot of people playing the game. Depending on the relationship story that you are playing too, there is somewhat a common "theme" or "genre" of fashion/style rewarded for every chapter. Say for instance, when you pick the story "Geek Speak", expect a geeky kind of apparel rewarded to you -- of course for you to properly suit up your sim in order to play the part (not that it would render any additional benefits).

Building Relationships

Adding people in your contacts (required to start a relationship story) would also notify you of their parties. This is quite beneficial to you in a lot of ways, but most importantly because this is usually among the requirements in your daily "To-Do" list.

Lastly, there lots of in-game instances where a particular story is somewhat a pre-requisite of an entirely different event. One which you have to unlock and accomplish first -- prior to unlocking a particular section of the game, or obtaining some furniture or equipment which you want to purchase. An example of this is having a family and a baby in the game (and everything there is to unlock in relation to this -- like having a wedding, and similar stuff). To get anywhere near having a baby/family, of course you'll have to work on a flirty relationship and grow it to a point where the game would allow you to propose and get married with another sim.

How to Play Relationship Stories?

Relationship stories are pretty much played out the same with hobby stories and your work shifts. Their main difference is the way you start them. Typically, to get started on any relationship story, your sim will have to approach another sim and start a conversation. Otherwise, if you already have someone on your contact list (probably an acquaintance some day/s before), you can contact them and start a "Starter Phase" event. This should easily be concluded with just 24 relationship points (an hour or so) -- or at least 8 or your energy points. Upon successfully accomplishing the event, you'll be given a chance to pick a story that you want to pursue with this character (a pick from the different relationship stories).

Points of interest (marked with the star) in the event, are the basic activities that the sims are getting into. For example, you'll see a lot of bickering options from playing any of the relationship stories that started with a confrontational introduction. On the other hand, if you picked a story from the options of the flirty introduction, you probably would spend a lot of quality time in public places like the cafe or restaurant. Pertaining actions eat up commensurate energy if you choose to micro-manage the event -- and follows the same rule as your hobbies;

(-1) energy activity = 10 (stars) activity gauge points

(-2) energy activity = 20 (stars) activity gauge points

(-3) energy activity / Risky move = 15 (stars) activity gauge points (if you fail) or 60 (stars) activity gauge points (if you succeed)

Otherwise, these events would normally play out on their own, over a corresponding duration (usually an hour for every 45 relationship points). So instead of shifts, hangout sessions are graded for the relationship points they reward you in return.

Usual Relationship Event Options:

Quick hang-out will play out in an hour - will give you 45 relationship points (is like a quick shift)

Friendly Feats will play out more or less 3 hours - will give you 135 relationship points (is like a long shift)
