How to Trade And Smuggle in Sea of Conquest

Apart from the combat that is a main part of the fun of Sea of Conquest, your main aim is to develop and upgrade your Fleet of ships. To do this you are going to need Gold and lots of it.

The higher your levels the more gold you will need to make each new upgrade meaning you will need to always be seeking ways to earn it. One of the best ways to do this is through trading and smuggling.

Trading Basics

The basics of trading in Sea of Conquest is buying goods from one port and delivering them to another. In the sea you will find ports and strongholds, the strongholds have a vendor that you can sell goods to for small amount of gold but the Ports will have a trader from one of the guilds in the game where you can buy and sell goods.

Each port will have a level. This will determine the level of good that you can purchase. Level 1 ports only have one level of goods, while level 5 ports will have 5. Higher levels of goods will be more valuable and can bring higher profits when sold.

As well as the port level your relationship level with the guild that runs the port will also determine if you can access the higher level goods. You can increase your relationship through trading, donating to the governor, completing commissions and exploration in the seas.

Cargo Hold

The amount of goods that you can buy and sell at any time is limited by the size pf your cargo hold. The space available is increase by building and then upgrading the Storage cabins in your flagship. You will unlock more of these as you upgrade the flagship but you will come to a point where your space is limited and you will need to decide between having more Storage capacity, Might (Gun bays) or Sailing speed (Oarsmen Quarters).

It is possible to change your ship setup my stowing some cabins and placing other while you are in ports so you can plan for times when you want to trade and those when you plan to fight.

Your cargo hold is also used to hols your supplies that feed your crew on voyages and balancing these to have enough for long journeys will also need to be considered.

The Best Trading Deals

The key to looking for good trades is to check the ports carefully. Each day you will find some ports that offer discounts on the purchase price of their goods. Taking these goods to other ports to then sell at full price will bring a good profit.

You can also check the map for ports with green arrows. These indicate that the ports is currently seeking specific goods and will offer a higher purchase price for them. You can also check to see which ports will supply those goods allowing you to sail over and make the trades.

The offers are limited and will adjust every few hours. For a quick return of gold income you can also check the smuggling instructions below.

Auto Trading

Auto trading with the merchants in the game will be come available to use as you earn influence with each of the guilds though trading, exploring, completing commissions for them or donating to the governor of ports.

Once your influence level reaches Friendly you will be able to select an auto trade option within the Trading screen. Tap this and you will be able to pick another port to auto trade with. You can pick any other port as long as you have already unlocked it by visiting and clearing the fog with the golden compass, and as long as the guild that runs that port is also Friendly to you.

When you select another port you will be shown an estimation of the income you can gain from the trade as well as the time that the entire trade route will take. Longer routes will allow you to earn more gold but will take time. If you are going to be offline for some time it is worth setting up a good long route to maximize your return.

Be careful though as if the route is too long then the supplies on your ship will run out while you are sailing. leaving you moving very slowly and being more vulnerable to attack.

You can adjust your hold to let you carry more supplies and allow longer routes but be aware that this reduces your hold capacity and therefore your profits on the trade route.

It is worth checking around ports as some will have better deals on the the goods you are trading with and may give much better profits over the run.

Once you start the auto trade your ships will sail between the 2 ports trading good automatically for a set number of times. By default this is 50 times but you can reduce this or you can upgrade to a paid subscription package that lets you increase it to 150.

You are able to stop the auto trade at any time. When you do this your ship will continue to the next port on the route and then wait there.

Smuggling

Smuggling is a separate form of trading with much better returns but less opportunity. Smuggles items are valuable and can be sold for a large amount of gold. But they can only be bought using a special currency call Smuggling Warrants, and used at specific Ports with a Black Market.

Smuggling Warrants

Earning Smuggling warrants is done in 2 ways. You can earn some every day by completing the daily tasks. Each chest you open will have between 2 and 6 smuggling warrants to claim.

In addition to this you can also collect more each day from your Gang Salary. This is found in the Game menu as log as you are part of a gang. Increasing the Gangs Influence will bring greater rewards.

So the number you can gain each day is limited, but you can save them up to use when you need to make a quick return.

Black Markets

You can spend your Smuggling warrants at Black Markets, these exist at some ports, but not many of them. To find a Black market you will need to check the maps and tap on the ports to view the Port Facilities.

The third icon on the list, a bag with a skull, will be highlighted is there is a black market present at the port. You can then sail there to visit it. Once you are in the port tapping on the black market indicator (instead of the Trading indicator) will take you to the Black Market shop, here you can use your available warrants to fill your hold with smuggled goods.

Once you have made the deal you can now sell the goods. You can sell them to the Merchant at the same port but this will not get you the best return. Head of to any other port and make your sale there to earn a large amount of gold as well as Guild influence. Be careful not to run into any battles though as being raided no will lose you the precious cargo and the gold you could earn.
