Last Updated:

Your home when playing Sea of Conquest is your Flagship. And like other RTS development games this is where you can choose to build various structures, in this case cabins, to improve your abilities.

The initial game sections will walk you though adding and upgrading a few of these, but as you move on there will be many cabins to place and a limited amount of times and resources to upgrade them. So which ones should you prioritize first? These are our recommendations on what to focus on and some tips on

Which Cabins to Upgrade

This list is presented in order although your own priorities may differ so check through the items below and consider what is most important to you. Some will improve your combat strength while others will help with trading.

Flagship Upgrade Requirements

Your first priority in the game will be to keep upgrading your flagship. The flag ship itself is the source of most of your power at sea and upgrading it will allow you to unlock more cabins and more cabin space to place them in.

Each stage of upgrading will cost you Gold and also have a requirement to complete upgrades on other cabins first. You can see this in the Flagship display of the Ships menu and you can also check out list of Flagship Upgrade requirements to get an idea of what cabins you will need to focus on in future.

Shipbuilder's Study

You will initially be able to place 2 shipbuilders studies in the flagship which will control your build queues. This means that you can build or upgrade only 2 cabins at a time. Upgrading them though (and placing sailors there as jobs) will increase your build speed and make any future upgrades go quicker.

There is an option to purchase a third build queue in the game and if you are able to invest real money in the game this is a worthwhile long term investment. Being able to upgrade an extra cabin and also giving you further upgrade speed boosts if you upgrade it as well will greatly increase your development speed especially as you reach higher levels.

Gun Bays

You will be able to unlock and then upgrade the Gun bay cabins in the ship over time. Placing these will boost the combat power of the ship to make you more powerful in battles. If you want to be stronger, especially early on, get these in the upgrade queue. Fortunately they upgrade relatively quickly.

Drill Hall

The drill hall is another room that can boost your combat effectiveness. Each upgrade will boost the sailor level in your ship meaning more fighting power for you. The Drill hall is one of the Flagship requirements at certain levels as well so you will need tro keep progressing this cabins level anyway.

Storage

As well as gun bays, storage cabins are another one that you will be able to build more and more of as you continue to upgrade. The number of storage rooms and the level you upgrade them to will affect the size of your cargo hold. This in turn affects how much you can trade and the gold you can earn.

Trading in Sea of Conquest is as important as combat because it will bring you the gold (and other useful items) that you need to keep upgrading.

Oarsman Quarters

There is one more set of cabins that the game gives you multiples of, this is the Oarsmen Quarters. These cabins only need to be built and placed (and sailors assigned to them). Adding them will give a boost to the sailing speed of your flagship which is a useful bonus for both trading and also in chasing or evading enemies in combat.

Crew Quarters

You can place 2 crew quarters in your flagship. This cabin is less important than others but should still be considered for regular upgrades as they will affect how many sailors you will be able to keep on your fleet at any time. The more sailors you have the more you can quickly restock during battles to get you back into a fight defeat the enemies.

Production Cabins

You ship will also be equipped with cabins that produce useful items.

  • Construction Materials Room - Wood
  • Smithing Table - Iron
  • Chicken Coop - Eggs
  • Water Cabin - Water
  • Cattle Shed - Milk
  • Salvage Bay - Fish

The first 2 of these will produce items that are needed for upgrading the other cabins. These are important to your progress. The others produce items for cooking foods / drinks which are less important but they will all need to be upgrades at certain points to progress your flagship.

Choosing Cabins to Place

That is the end of the priority list but now we come to another difficult choice to make in the game. As you upgrade you will find that the total number of cabins that you can place exceeds the amount of space in the flagship.

You can edit the layout of your cabins in the flagship at any time by tapping and holding on a cabin to enter the edit mode. Some cabins can be stowed away to make room for others, you can then replace the stowed cabins at any time by swapping them around.

Many of the cabins are essential to the running of your ship and cannot be stowed but the main 3 that you can play around with are the Gun bays, Storage and Oarsman Quarters.

This leads to a trade off between combat power, trading efficiency and sailing speed.

  • For the best combat setup you will want to maximize the gun bays and oarsman quarters.
  • For the best Trading setup you will want to maximize the storage and oarsman quarters.

You can take the time to edit your set up for times when you know you will mainly be trading or for when when there is a war with rival gangs.
