SS Tier Heroes

As of June 2020, these are the Ss tier characters, based on SDSGC's tier list. Let's take a look in detail what makes these heroes popular and much coveted.

[THE GOAT SIN OF LUST] Holy Knight Gowther

Gowther is a much-coveted hero who’s just excellent in almost all situations or modes. His skill set focuses on AoE, disabling enemy attacks, depleting their Ultimate orbs, and increasing his allies skill ranks and stats. With this combination of debuffing, buffs, and AoE attacks, it’s no wonder why Gowther is a great character all-around. Gowther boasts high base attack but suffers from an incredibly low defense.

His first skill (Arrow Shot) can damage all enemies. At skill rank 2 and rank 3, this attack can also disable enemies’ attacks for 1 turn and 2 turns respectively. The second skill (Invasion Arrow) increases the skill rank of an ally. At R2 (Rank 2), this effect can be applied to all allies, and finally at R3, all allies will also have a +20% boost to their basic stats for 3 turns.

Gowther’s Ultimate, Rewrite Light deals massive damage to all enemies and depletes their ultimate gauge orbs by three. If you’ve set [THE GRIZZLY SIN OF SLOTH] King or [FOREST GUARDIAN] King, this ultimate becomes a combination attack called Holy Ballista which deals an increased damage to all enemies and depletes their ultimate gauge orbs by 5.

Finally, Gowther’s Unique skill “Trickery”, increases all allies' Attack by 10% at the start of the next turn if the hero doesn't take damage.This boost is applied to a maximum of 5 times but the limit will reset upon taking damage.

[“SUNSHINE”] Holy Knight Escanor

If you’re a fan of the source material, you’ll know immediately why Escanor belongs to the top tier by default. While Escanor is obviously a potent, single-target DPS hero, his skill set also includes effects that increase the speed of which he can fill his own Ultimate Move gauge, inflict the Ignite status effect on enemies, and remove buffs on enemies. On top of this, he has a relatively high attack and defense base stats and boasts an exceptionally high base HP as well. Let’s discuss his skills and what he brings to the table.

First, we have his basic attack skill “Elegant Blow”. This single-target attack deals 300% of his attack and fills his ultimate gauge orbs by 1 at R2, and at R3 this increases to 500% of his attack and fills his ultimate by 2. This ensures that Escanor gets to perform his ultimate move quickly. This further complements his unique skill “The Person Who Stands on the Pinnacle”. This becomes activated once his ultimate move skill gets filled. This removes buffs and debuffs on him, while also giving him debuff immunity.

Escanor’s second skill “Cruel Sun”, damages and inflicts Ignite on the target for 3 turns. This debuff increases the damage taken by the target by 10% and can be stacked. At SR2 (Skill Rank 2), this skill also removes all buffs on the target and at SR3, aside from higher damage, the target will suffer buff removal and 2 stacks of Ignite effect for 4 turns.

Escanor’s ultimate “Punishment” doesn’t have any special effects except for its incredibly high, raw, damage modifier (840% at LV1). He also has a combination attack with Merlin (green, blue, red variants) that further increases this to 960% at LV1.

[CAMELOT’S SWORD] New King Arthur

Compared to the two heroes we talked about, Arthur may not seem much. He doesn’t have consistently high damage output, crowd-control options, or combination attacks. However, this doesn’t mean he can’t hold his ground to the other characters. He starts off with great base stats and has access to a niche debuff and an exceptional support buff. Furthermore, he’s available at the (Gold) Coin Shop so he’ll be more accessible compared to other SS tier heroes we featured here.

First, let’s check out his first skill, “Light Pillar”. This deals damage to a single target. At SR2 and SR3, this skill also disables the target’s recovery skills for 1 and 2 turns respectively - a perfect counter for enemies that rely heavily on recovery skills.

Next, we have his support skill “Royal Sword”. This skill alone brings Arthur up in the higher tiers. At SR1, this skill increases the basic stats of an ally by 20% for 2 turns. At SR2, this buff can be applied to all allies. However, once you’ve reached SR3, this skill’s effect will drastically change for the better. First, it will remove ALL debuffs to all allies and grant debuff immunity for 3 turns, while also increasing their basic stats by 30% for 3 turns. This skill alone makes Arthur a mainstay for almost all types of compositions, especially if he’ll be accompanying heavy hitters as allies.

His Ultimate “Legendary” gives him access to a single-target, high-damage move, thanks to the skill’s Sever effect (2x Crit Chance Increase). Finally, we have Arthur’s unique skill called “Charisma” that increases all human allies’ HP-related stats by 15%.

[THE GRIZZLY SIN OF SLOTH] King the Fairy King

King is an exceptional healer and can even disable and debuff enemies. This awesome combination of skill types made him a top tier choice for most players, mainly because of the sheer versatility he offers for team compositions that should be used for bosses, PvP, or general quest-clearing. Let’s discuss his individual skills and what makes them very special.

King’s skill names are a mouthful. For his offensive skill, “Spirit Spear Chastiefol, Third Form: Fossilization”, it deals damage to a single enemy and inflicts Petrify for 1 turn (SR2) or 2 turns (SR3). Petrify removes all buffs and debuffs on the target while also preventing him/her from taking action. This effect will be removed if the target is attacked. However, as long as you don’t attack a petrified target, the victim will be unable to act up to two turns.

Next, we have his healing skill, “Spirit Spear Chastiefol, Eighth Form: Pollen Garden”. It’s default effect is to remove all debuffs from all allies. At SR2, this effect will be complemented by HP recovery worth 30% of the lost HP amount of all allies. At SR3, this heal is boosted up to 50%.

Finally, we have his ultimate “Spirit Spear Chastiefol, Fourth Form: "Sunflower"” which inflicts massive Shatter damage to all enemies. Shatter is basically an effect that ignores the target(s) resistance. With Diane (Matrona, Creation, or Kung Fu Master versions) as associated hero, this ultimate attack changes to “Cross Shooting” that deals even higher Shatter damage percentage.
