The optimal way to increase the village friendship level is by completing villager quests. These usually involve completing Free Quests in the same region as the village. Keep doing this until you reach Village Friendship LV4. From there, you can start donating to the village coffers. This will increase your friendship with the village faster. Once you’ve maxed out the village friendship, you’ll have a permanent 20% discount on all shops in the village which is very helpful especially when trying to buy items from the Pop-up Shop or SSR equipment or materials.
