What is gas used for?

I cannot find any buildings that require gas to upgrade. So just saying gas is used for building doesnt seem to be true.

Yea... I found some deep down research that uses gas, but it is WAY down the list. No buildings so far, no units... I really need a gas dump. I'm over cap right now.

Keep upgrading. Once your buildings get to higher levels you will need lots of gas for them.
In the mean time if you are able to you can send resources to be stored in the alliance warehouse. Your alliance should have this building somewhere in the alliance territory and you can send a set amount to it each day up to a limit. You can then get it back in the future when you need it.
