Last Updated:

Final Gear is a mech-based strategy gacha RPG boasting a large roster of collectible female pilots and customizable mechs. Pilots aside, players also have to upgrade and maintain Mechs that pilots use in combat. In our Final Gear Leveling Up and Ranking Up Guide, we will provide the details on how to level up and rank up your pilots, to increase their stats and unlock new skills.

Level Up

Leveling up is a staple feature for almost any RPG game. In Final Gear, this mechanic’s importance is no different; leveling up permanently increases your character’s stats, making them more efficient in combat. Your pilots’ max level will be tied to your Mercenary (player) level. Mercenary level will increase as you complete missions and clear other content so there’s no such thing as overleveling your pilots.

Leveling Up and Ranking Up

Leveling up pilots doesn’t cost gold; however, you’ll need a different type of consumable called Piloting Theories. This is a common consumable that you can get from completing missions, expeditions, and daily requests.

Alternatively, you can also purchase them using Crystals but since that’s a premium resource, I strongly suggest saving them up instead for other uses (like special recruitment). However, if you’re a whale/ big spender and you have a lot of crystals lying around, you can use that resource to quickly buy Piloting Theories if you want without needing to farm them.

Piloting Theories come in five different rarities, each providing a fixed amount of EXP per piece, as listed below.

Piloting Theory Rarity Amount of EXP Crystal Cost
Basic 160 3
Junior 480 9
Intermediate 1440 27
Advanced 4320 81
Veteran 12960 243

Rank Up

Ranking Up allows you to increase your pilot’s stars. This feature permanently add stat boosts to your character and it can also unlock the two other skills that can be unlocked when your pilot becomes a 4-star and 5-star respectively.

Leveling Up and Ranking Up

The amount of sequences needed to increase the pilot to the next rank will depend on her current rank. Here are some examples:

* 3-star SSR and SR will require 4 sequences to become 4-star.

* 4-star SSR and SR will require 6 sequences to become 5-star.

* 5-star SSR and SR will require 10 sequences to become 5-star.

You can get sequences with the following methods:

* Recruit the same character again (duplicate copy).

* Complete the bonus steps in a limited banner. (Special Recruitment)

N and R pilots are the easiest to rank up since you can always get them both in normal and special recruitment. Sequences of SR pilots are hard to come by as well since their drop rates are also considerably low. Finally, the sequences of SSR pilots are even rarer - especially the limited ones since you can only get their sequences during their active banners.

Rank Up will require the pilot’s Sequences which are exclusive to her. Sequences are also used up when improving a pilot’s talent. Sequences can be hard to come by especially for SSR and SR pilots so always prioritize Ranking them up first before bothering with their talents.
