Pilot Skills Guide
More Final Gear
Final Gear is a mech-based strategy gacha RPG boasting a large roster of collectible female pilots and customizable mechs. A mech’s strength is not measured by its base stats and rarity alone; the strength of the one piloting it significantly matters as well. In our Pilot Skills Guide, we will discuss how Pilot Skills work and how to improve them further.
A pilot’s skills can make or break the character. Their skills give them their identity and determine their role in the battlefield (aside from their predetermined class). Each character has four skills: 1 active/ultimate and 3 passive. Only two of these skills are available by default; you can only unlock the third and fourth skills by ranking up the character to 4-star and 5-star respectively. There are no skill trees or options to change your skills in the game so the skills a character has will be permanent.
Skills can be upgraded up to LV5. To upgrade a skill, you’ll need to use items called System Upgrades. You’ll need to use the correct System Upgrade type to level up a skill based on the pilot’s class. For example, to upgrade the skills of a Striker-class pilot, you’ll need System Upgrade: Striker. For Shooter-class, you’ll need the SU: Shooter variant and so on. There are also generic System Upgrade items that you can convert to whatever variant you’ll need.
For upgrading skills to LV4 and LV5, you’ll need an additional SSR consumable called a Cutting-Edge Textbook. You’ll need to have these in addition to the System Upgrade materials. These are extremely rare which you can only avail through the Gift Packs Shop, obtain is very limited amounts for completing Weekly Requests, or obtain from special recruitment bonus steps.
Certain pilots have a Custom Mech Suit Activation bonus effect on their skills, making them more potent and effective. As long as they’re piloting their custom mechs and the mechs are activated, all their skills that have the CMSA effect in the description will be applied. These will range from bonus buffs/ debuffs/ higher damage, and special status ailments applied to enemies. That’s why it’s worth completing the custom mech set and activating it to take advantage of the effect, even if you have low-ranked parts.
This effect will only become available if the pilot is driving her custom mech (complete set) and you have activated the custom mech as well. For more information about custom mechs, please check out our dedicated page for it.
