Custom Mech Guide
More Final Gear
Final Gear is a mech-based strategy gacha RPG boasting a large roster of collectible pilots and customizable mechs. Pilots aside, players also have to upgrade and maintain Mechs that pilots use in combat. In our Custom Mech Guide, we will provide the details about the custom mechs: what makes them special and how you can get them.
What are Custom Mechs?
These are signature mechs of certain pilots. If a pilot is on her own custom mech, the Custom Mech Suit Activation mechanic will be activated. This will provide bonus effects on her skills, making them even more potent and beneficial to the pilot and her team. You can view the pilot’s Custom Mech by accessing her profile in the Pilots menu then checking the Bio tab under Details.Additionally, custom mechs have a Set Bonus effect. These stat bonuses will be activated and applied to the mech as long as the entire set is complete: signature weapon, exclusive pilot, and three mech parts (cockpit, frame, and mount). There are bonuses that will get activated by equipped 2, 4, and 5 pieces listed.
Custom mechs are incredibly powerful and some are even locked behind paywalls. Thankfully there are custom mechs that you can farm and build, as we’ll discuss in this guide.
Custom Mech Activation
Collecting all the necessary parts of the custom mech set is not enough. Once you have the weapon, exclusive pilot, and all three body parts of the custom mech, you still have to activate it from the Hangar menu. You’ll immediately know if a custom mech is activated or not if you can see the pilot by default. Activated mechs will have an extensively different appearance as well. You can activate or deactivate custom mechs at any time without any cost. Deactivated custom mechs can still be used in battle but the pilot will not be able to use the “Custom Mech Suit Activation” bonus effect on their skills.CMSA Effect
The Custom Mech Suit Activation effect is a bonus effect present to pilots with custom mechs. As long as they’re piloting their custom mechs and the mechs are activated, all their skills that have the CMSA effect in the description will be applied. These will range from bonus buffs/ debuffs/ higher damage, and special status ailments applied to enemies. That’s why it’s worth completing the custom mech set and activating it to take advantage of the effect, even if you have low-ranked parts.Where to Get Custom Mechs
Custom mechs of limited characters can be collected by using Bits, which you’ll earn by pulling on the limited pilot’s Special Recruitment banner. This is the only way to get these custom mech parts and may require a lot of bits (and a lot of draws). If you can’t get the whole set, you can settle with the weapon at least.Other custom mechs can be obtained from limited events. For example, Aya Kujyou’s The Ronin mech can be farmed for free during the Shadow of Corbero event. You can get the Rank 60 version of it by clearing all 40 loot boxes. It may take several days but at least it’s free. (Sadly, Aya’s skills doesn’t have CMSA bonus effects)
If you go to Recruit > Redeem tab, you’ll find custom mech parts that you can purchase using Appointed Development Parts. These parts can be obtained by completing Daily Requests and from Monthly Check-in rewards. The mech parts you can purchase here can be farmed from Bounty Missions but at least you can choose which part and rank you’ll need to complete your set. This lineup refreshes daily or you can spend 50 crystals to refresh it immediately.
Finally, we have the paywall blocked Custom Mechs. You can get them from the Growth Fund Pack (Elizabeth and Natasha’s custom mechs), Battle Pass (Flavia’s custom mech), Top-up Rewards (Bernadette’s custom mech), etc. These are decent custom mechs and pilots but you’re still better off spending on getting the custom mech of high tier units like Taysia and Rin (her banner ended already).
