11. Always Use Resource Bases
Boom Beach Guide
One limiting factor in improving your position in the game is the fact that you are often restricted to just one building of a specific type on your base. For example you can only have one Sawmill. But that is not to say you cannot have MORE than one Sawmill - you can just only have one at your base!
Once you have upgraded your Radar to Level 3 you will start to encounter what the game calls Expansion Bases - islands with enemy bases on them that, once you have defeated them, allow you to then establish your own presence on the island!
What that means is that you can then make use of any resource-gathering buildings that are there - and you can also take advantage of the natural resources there as well. That means you can harvest its tress and stone!
So not only do you obtain a fresh new source for resources, you also increase your position strategically having expanded to add a new base!
Once you defeat whoever is holding the Resource Base all of the buildings are “destroyed” like usual, and then the Resource Building - for our example a Sawmill - is replaced by the game, along with the Outpost Building (the Resource-Base equal to an HQ) and then defenses of a sort and number that is equal to your current Tech Level.
For example at Level 8 I was able to take a Resource Base with a Sawmill, and then the game added back in the Sawmill, the Outpost, and 3 Machine-gun Nests. That is all I have to defend the base at this level - but as long as I hold it, I get to profit from its Lumber production!
