04. The Value of Diamond Conservation
Boom Beach Guide
Diamonds in Boom Beach are basically the premium currency that gets things done. They allow you to skip timers, and make things happen - and because of that the temptation to USE them is strong.
Even though it is very hard to actually earn them for free in large enough quantities for you to get used to using them to skip time in the game through game play - and it is very hard because they want you to BUY them with real-world money - if you use them strategically you end up getting FAR more value than otherwise.
The big issue is spending them. When you begin construction of a structure or upgrade you have the option to instantly tap on its Diamond Icon and rush the build - completing it instantly.
At the very start of the building process that can be a tad bit expensive! Ah, but if you exercise a little patience you can save some Diamonds. What we mean by that is that the cost of rushing a build once it is halfway through completion is actually less than the comparable cost at the start.
So in the case of buildings and structures you already know you want to rush along, pausing for a nice cold (or hot if you are in a winter region) libation and a small snack can give you the joy of epicure and the satisfaction of saving some Diamonds!
The Diamond EconomyThe fact that those wonderful pink diamonds happen to have their own inherent magical power of slicing through time like a hot knife through butter aside, you should NEVER forget that those diamonds are a major part of the revenue stream for the wizards who created this game.
A major focus of their efforts in creating this game is to find ways in which to encourage you to SPEND those luscious pink diamonds!
Just in case it slipped your notice, here is the official Diamond Exchange Rares (at the time that this hints page was written):
1. Pile of Diamonds: 500 Diamonds = $4.99** ($0.0099 per Diamond)
2. Pouch of Diamonds: 1,200 Diamonds = $9.99 ($0.0083 per Diamond)
3. Bag of Diamonds: 2,500 Diamonds = $19.99 ($0.0079 per Diamond)
4. Box of Diamonds: 6,500 Diamonds = $49.99 ($0.0076 per Diamond)
5. Crate of Diamonds: 14,000 Diamonds = $99.99 ($0.0071 per Diamond)
** The valuation system for real-world money used to purchase Diamonds is based upon the US Dollar if only because that is convenient for more of the world than it is not.
Of course you can also go the other route, and enforce some zen-like Ninja Patience on yourself! Begin your construction or upgrade and then go away to play some other game while the timer runs. Sure that is an obvious tactic, but it is also easy to forget in the heat of the moment that time is going to pass anyway.
Finally there is the question of Diamond banking - which you should be doing. When you earn some Diamonds simply don't use them - save them up - build a stockpile - because the day will come soon when you want and need to use them. And it will be nice to have them when that time arrives :)
