Room 03

Room 3 in the MechCube offers us 3 mathematical puzzles to solve. 3 tasks to continue our quest.

Task 1

This is a simple task you need to count how many 9's there are in all of the numbers from 1 to 100.

Each 10 will have 1 nine in it - 9, 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69, 79, 89, 99. There are 10 of these.

The 90,s also have 1 at the start of each number. There are 10 more of these.

Answer: 20

Task 2

A question of averages.

11 players have an average age of 22, this gives us a total age of 242 years.

10 players have an average age of 21, this gives us a total age of 210 years.

Task 3

We have a sequence of 6 chests with a number of coins in each. Work out the sequence to qork out the number of coins in the final 2 chests.

Sequence: 60, 30, 20, 15 . .

The second checks has 1/2 of the first.

The third chest has 1/3 of the first

The forth chest has 1/4 of the first

The fifth chest must have 1/5 of the first = 1/5 of 60 = 12

The sixth chest must have 1/6 of the first = 1/6 of 60 = 10

When you have completed these tap the padlock symbol to complete the puzzle. You can now find 3 ways to exit this room.

You can move to the door on the left to find one of the 6 endings, not a good one. But you will return to the room to try again.

You can also go though the door on the right to find Room 06.

Finally there is a secret exit. Tap the panel on the upper wall to the left. This opens to reveal a passage. Tap o go through here and find Room 05.

But we will move on first to back track to Room 04.
