The gacha mechanic is a recurring feature for a majority of popular mobile games. As a quick summary, gacha is similar to a lottery where players have to spend currency for a chance to obtain the characters they want. Thankfully, the game only has a gacha for a character pool and players have a fair amount of chance to earn the required currency for each summon attempt. In our Summon (Gacha) Guide, we will discuss how the game’s gacha system works.

The Eminence in Shadow RPG is the mobile game adaptation of a popular isekai light novel where players take the reins of Cid, a modern-day teenager who gets transported to a dark fantasy world after death. Players have to collect various iterations and rarities of the established heroines in the game to form their ideal combat parties and proceed through the story.

Overview

If you’re playing other mobile games with gacha mechanics, then you’re already familiar with how this system works. For newcomers, think of it as a lottery or loot box system where you have to spend premium currency or special tickets/vouchers for a chance to get something from the prize pool of possible prizes/items/characters. In this game, it’s quite simplified; you can use 300 Gems for a single summon attempt or 2800 gems for 10 attempts in one batch. The latter is more bang for the buck especially if you’re an F2P (free-to-play player) who doesn't plan on spending anything on the game. Since you can only get a finite amount of gems through normal means, you should only consider pulling for characters that you want.

Probabilities

Probabilities are the chances of characters to appear. In the game, the probability of character appearances during summon attempts is determined by their rarity. Please use the probability chart of the SS Selection and Regular Summon banners below.

Summon (Gacha) Guide

In the second column, it means that you have a 79% of getting A-rank characters for the first and 9th pull; however, once you’ve reached the 10th pull, there’s a 97% of you getting an S-rank character. (I’ve yet to confirm if the 10-count resets if you get an A or S-rank character before reaching the 10th pull.) The probability for SS Rank characters remains at 3% for each pull attempt.

One thing that you should also take note is that the low probability of SS rank characters is divided among the available SS characters in the pull (with the exception of the boosted characters in the Selection banner). In the regular summon banner, the 3% probability is equally distributed to all available SS characters. The only exception for this rule is the special Guaranteed Summon banner that gives players a 100% chance of getting an SS character on the 10th pull, regardless of what you have obtained on the first 9 pulls. This special mechanic is only awarded to players once per account.

Banners

The summon menu might have several banners available all at once. We will discuss these banners in this section. Almost each banner has its own Exchange counter, probability, etc. All banners have a duration (except for the Regular Summon banner) so once the duration is over, the banner will either get replaced or removed, with a new set of featured characters posted. I can’t confirm yet if limited-event characters will get a rerun or if they’ll eventually get added to the permanent banner.

SS Guaranteed Summon

This special banner guarantees a featured SS character on your 10th pull. The only catch is that this banner will only accept 2800 Paid Gems, which is equivalent to 10 summons. Unlike other banners, there are no Exchange counters here and the guaranteed SS character on the 10th pull is only applicable once per account.

SS Selection

You’ll be able to see multiple SS Selection banners at a time. Once per day, you can spend 100 Paid Gems to get one summon attempt. The regular gems needed per summon is still 300, and a discounted rate of 2800 gems is applied to get x10 summons.

The featured character(s) will have a temporary boosted appearance rate. This rate will be deducted from the default low probability of SS rank characters (3%), and the remaining percentage to be equally distributed among the remaining SS characters in the pool.

In the example below, Spring Sword Dance: Alpha has a boosted rate of 1.380%. So we deduct that from the default SS rate (3% - 1.380%) and we get 1.62%. There are 15 non-boosted SS characters in the same banner so 1.62% rate is distributed equally among them (1.62% / 18), which gives us the 0.108% that you can see here. Different selection banners may have different boosted rate values but the calculation remains the same.

Summon (Gacha) Guide

Regular Summon

This is the game’s permanent banner where the 3% default appearance rate for SS characters are divided equally among the 15 permanent SS characters in the pool. You can use gems here as well but I suggest not doing that unless you want specific characters from the Regular Summon. You can also use Regular Summon Tickets from limited-event exchange shops to get some free attempts. I can’t confirm yet if new characters will be added to the Regular Summon banner (thus lowering their individual appearance rates) so just stay tuned to any announcements from the developers.
