The Eminence in Shadow gives players rein to the protagonist Cid Kagenou, a mediocre modern boy that gets hit by a truck in the real world (which happens a lot apparently) and dies, only to be resurrected in a dark fantasy world rife with magic, violence, and of course, and an attractive female populace. With a desire to exert his power in the shadows, Cid rescues a poor, transformed elven girl that becomes his first follower. Unknowingly getting involved in a complicated power struggle by different factions, Cid's organization now called Shadow Garden has waged war against the fabricated Cult of Diablos.
