Completing quests are essential to mobile RPG as they help mark your progress and unlock new features along the way. In our Quests Guide, we will quickly discuss the various quest types that you’ll encounter in the game and what rewards await you for completing them.

The Eminence in Shadow RPG is the mobile game adaptation of a popular isekai light novel where players take the reins of Cid, a modern-day teenager who gets transported to a dark fantasy world after death. Players have to collect various iterations and rarities of the established heroines in the game to form their ideal combat parties and proceed through the story.

Quests can be accessed from the main menu. From there, you can launch any of the specific quest options discussed in detail below.

Quests Guide

Main Quests

The Main Quests follow the anime version of The Eminence in Shadow RPG. So far, there are 12 Main Quest chapters in the game, each with their own stages and episodes. Episodic battles will require stamina to start and upon winning the battle, you can earn Player EXP, Character EXP, Zeni, and various items. You have to progress through Main Quests to unlock additional features and stages for other quests in the game. Main Quests are unlocked in a linear fashion so you have to go through each chapter and episode in order.

Quests Guide

Similar to normal quests, main quest battles can also have a star-rating system. Achieving a 3-star ranking on a stage will allow you to collect the bonus one-time rewards, and ability to permanently use the “Skip” battle feature, allowing you to collect rewards from previously-cleared stages without even battling the same enemies again. Main Quest battles are repeatable but you’ll only be able to collect the normal drop rewards (1st clear rewards are only awarded once, after clearing the quest for the first time)The conditions to get a 3-star are as follows:

* Quest complete (clear the battle)

* No knocked-out characters

* Complete the battle within 50 seconds

You can freely re-watch unlocked Main Quest cutscenes from the Main Quest menu or by selecting them from the Story menu. Take note that you can freely browse the chapters by tapping the “Go to Chapter” in the top-right corner of the screen.

Seven Shadows Chronicles

This is a separate set of combat stages that will serve as your main farming source of equipment materials, character shards, zeni, player EXP, and character EXP. There are two SSC modes: Normal and Hard. SSC (Normal) will be unlocked once you have viewed Main Quest 1-6 while SSC (Hard) is unlocked once you’ve viewed Seven Shadows Chronicles Stage 2-5. As you clear SSC stages, more quests will become available as well. If you want to know the specific unlock requirements, simply tap the locked quest/ stage and the game will display the necessary information about unlocking that stage.

Quests Guide

SSC battles require stamina and follow the 3-star rating as well. The same conditions described above are applicable in this mode to earn a star. Getting a 3-star will allow you to conveniently skip battles and collect the rewards automatically without combat. When farming for actual gear or equipment shards for your characters, you’ll be clearing this stage more often compared to other quest modes.

SSC Normal stages can be farmed and repeated any number of times, as your stamina allows. However, SSC Hard stages can only be tackled a number of times per day. These attempt counters will be refreshed as part of the game’s scheduled content reset (around 4:00 AM local server time). These attempts can be restored before the scheduled reset using Phantasm Gems but I personally advise against that since Phantasm Gems are quite valuable and the rewards you’ll get in exchange for using your gems is not a good tradeoff.

Material Quests

So far, there are only two types of Material Quests: Monster Hunt and Bandit Hunt. Monster Hunt stages reward you with a lot of Magic Candies while Bandit Hunt quests award players with a ton of Zeni (money). There are six stages each, and you can unlock more stages by completing the preceding stage and the corresponding Main Story Chapter and Episode. The higher the stage level you clear, the higher the amount of rewards you’ll get..

You’ll only get two attempts daily to clear each of these Material Quests. These attempt counters will be refreshed as part of the game’s scheduled content reset (around 4:00 AM local server time). You can also see the number of attempts you have in the top-left corner of this quest mode’s screen, as well as the countdown until the next scheduled reset.

Quests Guide

Sanctuary

You’ll unlock Sanctuary after viewing Main Story 4-7. This is an Endurance-type mode that lasts for a week. After that, the content and your progress is reset so you can start all over again to proceed and earn more coins and rewards. In this mode, your party’s HP is carried over between battles. Once a character’s HP is reduced 0, you won’t be able to use him or her in the subsequent battles.

The buffs and debuffs applied in this mode do not affect your party’s stats in the “real” world. No Stamina is consumed while exploring this mode. Winning battles will award you with Sanctuary Coins, which is the specific currency used to exchange for items in the Sanctuary Shop. We will cover this mode in detail as a separate page in this guide so please check that out as soon as it is published.

Quests Guide

Event Quests

These Quests are only available during the limited-time event duration. Usually, these quests allow you to earn event-exclusive currency that can be used to exchange for items in the event shop during the event period. We will cover the Event feature as a whole in a separate page as well. It’s highly recommended to participate in limited events whenever they’re available since some of the goods that you can get from the event are only available during that period. It’s too early to tell as well if these events will get a rerun or return in the immediate future.
