Magic Gear Guide

Each character in the The Eminence in Shadow RPG can equip different types of gear that can boost their stats and even be used to increase their ranks. They can also equip special equipment called Magic Gears that provide more powerful boosts to their corresponding character. In our Magic Gear Guide, we will discuss how to craft and infuse these special, character-specific gears.

The Eminence in Shadow is the mobile game adaptation of a popular isekai light novel where players take the reins of Cid, a modern-day teenager who gets transported to a dark fantasy world after death. Players have to collect various iterations and rarities of the established heroines in the game to form their ideal combat parties and proceed through the story.

Magic Gear Overview

Magic Gears are special equipment that provide powerful boosts. Each character will start off with one Magic Gear slot; however, once a character reaches Rank Level 5, they’ll unlock the second magic gear. However, it is not possible to equip two identical magic gears on the same character. Each piece of magic gear has its own rarity, level, stats, Special Effect and Infused Effect bonuses.

You can obtain Magic Gears only through Crafting (more details on the following section); receiving additional copies of the same magic gear will produce Infusion Materials instead. Infusion is the process of upgrading Magic Gears using consumables exclusive to the infusion process. More details on that in the following sections as well.

There are also exclusive, character-specific Magic Gears that have special effects when equipped to their corresponding character. Take note that the character’s title or version also matters; for example, Alexia Midgar’s “Idolized Swordplay” and “Santa’s Little Tease” versions are considered different characters so you can’t interchange their magic gears to one another. Other characters can equip exclusive magic gears but some bonus effects will not be activated. In the example below, the first two Infused Effect boosts are only applied to the specific character so any other characters who equip this magic gear will only have the third boost applied to them.

You won’t be able to equip a Magic Gear from the Character enhancement screen. You can only do that during the battle preparation screen. The game will remember which magic gear is assigned to what character so you can use the same magic gear on different characters in different parties.

For standard magic gears, you also have to take note of the Infused Effect stat boosts and match them to the character’s class to make the most out of their bonuses. For example, Shield Capes usually have damage reduction, crit def, and healing boost effects so it only makes sense to give them to your healers and tanks. On the other hand, Bracelets will have damage-boosting bonuses so giving them to your DPS units is highly recommended.

Obtaining Magic Gear

The only way to obtain Magic Gear is through Crafting. To do this, you have to collect crafting materials from missions and (repeatable daily/weekly) quests. The crafted magic gear is random; however, the rarer the material used, the higher the chance that you’ll get a rare magic gear. Only one type of each magic gear can be obtained so if you have received duplicates, they’ll be automatically converted into Infusion materials.

Additionally, there are character-exclusive magic gears that can be crafted from specific materials that you can only obtain from the limited store. This is usually the case for characters featured in the limited event. Since you only need one copy of exclusive magic gears, it’s always a great idea to get at least one copy if you’re lucky enough to pull for the featured limited character.

=== Magic Gear Enhancement===Enhancing Magic Gears can be done in two ways: Enhancement or Infusion. Enhancement is just your standard level-up process where you have to use consumables called Polishes (as well as a good amount of money/Zeni) to increase the magic gear’s level and its stats. You can usually find Polishes Exchange Centers The number of polishes and amount of zeni needed to upgrade will increase as the magic gear’s Enhancement level increases.

For Infusion, you’ll need two enhancement materials. The key item is a Infusion Shard that can only be obtained by getting a copy of the same magic gear. This process will replace one of the three Infused Effects with a new, random Infused Effect. This is pretty useful when you have a good magic gear with subpar Infused Effects; however, due to the cost needed and the randomness involved, I suggest doing this only way later in the game.
