Character Enhancement Guide
More The Eminence in Shadow RPG
Managing your characters is integral to the entire game since they’re your combatants necessary for clearing most of the game’s contents. And due to the Elemental system integrated to the game’s combat system, you’ll eventually find yourself needing to train more characters aside from your main or favorite team. In our Character Enhancement Guide, we will briefly discuss the various ways of enhancing a character’s combat power.
The Eminence in Shadow is the mobile game adaptation of a popular isekai light novel where players take the reins of Cid, a modern-day teenager who gets transported to a dark fantasy world after death. Players have to collect various iterations and rarities of the established heroines in the game to form their ideal combat parties and proceed through the story.
Character Level
Normally in RPG games, all participating characters will earn some EXP after every battle. However, in The Eminence in Shadow RPG, you’ll need to use consumables called Magic Candy to raise the levels of your individual characters. These can be obtained as mission rewards or can be farmed from the Material Quest > Monster Hunt stages.Monster Hunt is unlocked after viewing Main Story 2-2, and you can clear the stage up to twice a day. The number of attempts is refreshed daily as part of the game’s daily content reset. When clearing a Monster Hunt quest for the first time, your party needs to fight the waves of enemies for that difficulty. Once they have attained a 3-star rating, you can just use the Skip feature to collect your magic candies without fighting the enemies once again. Harder stages can be unlocked as you progress through the main story and clear the preceding Monster Hunt stage.
On the other hand, your account level acts as a natural level cap to your characters. That means that your characters won’t be able to level up too far ahead of your player level. That said, you can still consider leveling up your characters as high as you possibly can to ensure that the party’s overall combat power is updated regularly. Aside from the account level, the character’s rarity will also affect the level cap, as listed below:
Character Rank | Level Cap |
---|---|
Rank A | Equal to player level |
Rank S | Player LV+1 |
Rank SS | Player LV+2 |
Rank SS+ | Player LV+3 |
Rank SS++ | Player LV+4 |
Equipment
Each character has six equipment slots: Weapon 1/ Shield 1, Weapon 2 /Shield 2, Helmet, Belt, Earring, and Bracelet. The equipment required for each character is predetermined but thankfully, you don’t have to worry about unique equipment pieces as all characters share the same pool of “generic” equipment with varying types and rarities. You can select the equipment pieces manually or use the “Equip All” button to conveniently wear all available gear pieces for that character in a single tap.Certain gears have a character level requirement that will prevent any character from wearing any gear that’s way above their level. To get around this, you just need to level up the character as described above. You don’t need to level up the gear pieces individually; when you need to move on from the current set, your character will need to use the same gear set to increase their rank, in which you’ll have to provide them new gear pieces afterward.
You can farm these equipment pieces and shards mostly from Chronicle stages. If you have cleared these stages before, then you can conveniently use the Skip feature to automatically get the rewards for that stage without fighting a battle. Additionally, you can Fuse or Craft low-level gear and Equipment Shards to get the better version of the material gear. For example, you can fuse 1 Stone Sword and 5 Iron Sword Shards to get a single Iron Sword. Equipment shards can also be purchased from Mitsugoshi (in-game shop).

Rank
Once you have all equipment slots filled, you can use the “Increase Rank” button to consume all six gears and permanently raise the character’s rank. This will provide much needed stat boosts as well as unlocking new skills for the character.Skills
Each character has a different set of skills that they can use in battle. Initially, they’ll only have access to their Hidden Technique (special attack) and Combo ability. Here is a quick list of skills a character can have:Skill | Description |
---|---|
Hidden Technique | This is the character’s special skill that they’ll use once the SP gauge is filled up completely. |
Strike Combo | This skill is triggered when the character participates in a Strike Combo attack. There’s a value range for the skill because the amount of damage or healing a character can deal will depend on their order of activation in the combo chain. |
(Active) Skills | These skills are what the characters will use in the middle of combat. Each character has two of these skills. |
Special Ability | These passive skills are condition-based so their activation will depend if ideal conditions are met. Each character has one Special Ability. |
Please refer to our dedicated Skill Guide for more information
As you increase the character’s rank, additional skills will be unlocked as well. Each skill can be upgraded up to LV10, and as you Awaken characters, the skills’ effects get significantly boosted as well.
Awakening
This process involves using character-specific (and version-specific) Magic Cores to provide permanent stat boosts, enhance a skill’s value and allow the character to equip a second Magic Gear. Each character can have up to 5 Awakening levels.Rarity
Finally, you can use character-specific (and version-specific) shards to bump a character’s rarity higher. The highest rarity that a character can reach is SS++. You can obtain shards from the Shards Shop, (Hard) Chronicle Stages, (Hard) Event Stages, and Event Shops. That’s all the various Character enhancement options that you can apply. Make sure to properly manage your characters so you can tackle the various challenges, stages, and events the game has to offer!
