1-on-1 Time

In games with multiple recruitable (usually female) characters, some sort of “intimacy” or “bond” system is incorporated in the game, allowing players to feel closer to their favorite characters by interacting with them regularly, using them in battles often, or both. The Eminence in Shadow RPG has a similar feature that not only makes you feel closer to the character, but earn various rewards and perks as well. In our 1-on-1 Time Guide, we will discuss the game’s intimacy system.

The Eminence in Shadow RPG is the mobile game adaptation of a popular isekai light novel where players take the reins of Cid, a modern-day teenager who gets transported to a dark fantasy world after death. Players have to collect various iterations and rarities of the established heroines in the game to form their ideal combat parties and proceed through the story.

Overview

You can increase your bond with the character by interacting with them in the Home Screen. As your character’s Bond Level increases, new Scenes that will be played on the home screen will become available. Additionally, you’ll also obtain the following rewards:

* New scenes (certain bond levels will unlock special Night scenes)

* Unlock new character stories

* Increase the character’s stats

* Increase the character’s skill levels

* Obtain Phantasm gems and other items.

Bond Levels are tracked separately per character. Some of the main characters have a young and grown-up version so these are tracked separately as well. However, for characters with limited-event versions, the bond level for the normal grown-up version will be shared with their event versions. For example, you have the normal version of (grown-up) Alpha and her event version (Spring Sword Dance), this is just considered as one character - hence, one bond gauge. The unlocked versions of Alpha will just serve as costumes or skins, determining how she’ll appear in the home screen as well as her changing some of her dialogue in the home screen.

Choosing a Home Screen Character

To perform a 1-on-1 session, you have to set your chosen (favorite) heroine as the Home Screen character. You can do this by going to the Home menu, then tapping the small circular character icon on the top-right corner of the screen, as shown below. Cid/ Shadow can’t be set as the Home screen character since it’s the player character.

Next, in the pop-up window, tap the “Characters” button then select which character you want to set as the Home Screen character. If you have unlocked the other versions or costumes of the selected character, you can also select the specific one you have. (Some versions or costumes can change the unlockable scene, animation, or dialogue - usually applicable to rare, limited-event versions of the character) Wait for the loading to complete and the intro video of the chosen character will play. You have the option to skip this entirely or just let it finish until you see the Home Screen interface once again.

1-on-1 Interaction

After setting the Home Screen character, you can tap the middle of the screen to enter the 1-on-1 window. From here, you can tap the Profile button in the top-left corner of the screen to see the character’s detailed profile, flashback scenes, and unlocked voices.

Additionally, you can also tap the Rewards List button on the same location as the Profile button earlier to see the available rewards you can get by increasing the character’s Bond Level. You can increase a character’s Bond Level up to LV30.

Next, in the bottom-right corner of the screen, you’ll see some number of “Talk” attempts remaining. There’s a default number of attempts given to you automatically per day and this count is reset daily at 4:00 AM (server time) as part of the game’s scheduled daily content reset. You can also earn additional attempts by clearing daily missions.

By tapping the Talk button in the bottom-right corner, three Topics will appear. You can choose any of these, then tap the only dialogue option next.

After that, you’ll see three more dialogue options with a little star icon in the corner. This indicator will help you determine which option has been chosen already. Choosing an option that you have selected before will not consume a Talk attempt. As a general rule, always select the option with the empty star icon and exhaust all three options before moving on to a new Topic. There’s really no wrong or correct answer here; the amount of progress that will be applied to the Bond Level gauge will be the same. However, as the character’s bond level increases, the more Talk chances you need to complete before it levels up.
