RPGs for the mobile platform are not known for their storytelling. But certain titles have great storylines and lore that players can delve into if they wish to. Since The Eminence in Shadow RPG is a game based on the anime, players who don’t want to watch the show or just plainly interested in the story can conveniently keep track and replay the game’s story progression, thanks to the game’s built-in story menu. However, there are in-game exclusive story scenes that are not shown in the anime so fans of the show can take advantage of this feature as well. In our Stories Guide, we will quickly discuss the story archive feature.

The Eminence in Shadow RPG is the mobile game adaptation of a popular isekai light novel where players take the reins of Cid, a modern-day teenager who gets transported to a dark fantasy world after death. Players have to collect various iterations and rarities of the established heroines in the game to form their ideal combat parties and proceed through the story.

Overview

The game’s story is presented in a light novel game format where events are presented in still images of the show with some dialogue. As you tackle the story quests, the unlocked scenes will be available for replay in the Story menu. This is a great place to review the story scenes you have unlocked or accidentally skipped. When replaying story scenes, you have the option to play them with the Voices On or Off.

Stories Guide

While the story is playing, tapping the screen will allow you to advance the scene after reading it. You can also set the progression to “Auto” so that the story scene advances automatically. If you missed a dialogue or if you want to review the scene, there’s no rewind function but you can tap the button in the top-right corner and use the “Log” feature. This will allow you to view the conversation log up to the current point. Finally, you have the option to Hide the dialogue and the rest of the interface. This is perfect if you want to take a screenshot of a scene. Tap the top-right corner of the screen and select “Hide”. Tap the screen again to bring back the interface.

Main Stories

The main story follows the anime version of The Eminence in Shadow. New story scenes will be unlocked as you progress through the Main Quests. The stories with the padlock icon obviously means that you haven’t unlocked them yet. However, tapping these locked story scenes will display the unlock requirements, should you need to review them.

Stories Guide

Seven Shadows Chronicles

These are all-new stories unique to the game depicting the adventures of the Seven Shadows after leaving Cid’s side during the two-year gap told in the light novels. New SSC stories will be unlocked as you progress through the SSC quests.

Character Stories

These are stories of the characters you have recruited so far. Additional stories can be unlocked by spending 1-on-1 time sessions with them and increasing their Bond Levels. The young and adult versions of some characters are listed separately; however, other versions (like limited-event versions) of adult characters will be listed under the adult version of the character. Additionally, completing certain character stories unlock new costumes for your characters.

Event Stories

These are unlocked only during limited-time event quests. Since events are only available for a short span of time, only event quests that you have cleared will be listed here. Previously completed events that you failed to clear or participate in will not be listed.
