Path to Nowhere Guide

Last Updated:

Character skills are important in almost any game that involves combat. Sometimes, a character’s skill set can even determine how effective they’ll be in combat. The same can be said about their ranking in a tier list. It’s not even a surprise that even low-rarity characters can secure top positions in a tier list because of how much their skills can bring to the table. In our Skill System Guide, we will briefly discuss how to manage and improve your Sinners’ skills.

Path to Nowhere is a real-time strategy RPG where players use their authority and powers as the newly-appointed chief of an organization that captures and handles powerful entities called Sinners. Use their powers to form a combat-ready team of specialists specifically made for dealing with various threats to the city.

In Path to Nowhere, character skills play a major role in combat. The number and quality of skills a character has can make your battles easier and faster, especially when complemented by other characters and other supporting factors. In this page, we will take a closer look on how character skills are managed in the game.

Skill Types

Each character has four skills: Normal ATK, Ultimate, and two Passive skills. These skills permanently belong to the character and cannot be influenced by other factors except by personal enhancements of the owner. By default, Normal ATK and Ultimate are unlocked; to unlock the 1st passive, you have to reach Phase 1 and for the second passive skill, you’ll need the sinner to reach Phase 2. You can also tap the individual skills to display more information about them, like the complete description of the skill, its effective range, and a preview of its upgrade levels, up to LV10. It’s a good idea to at least read the skill description of the characters that you’ll use often as their effective range and skill description may also affect their ideal positions in the battlefield.

Leveling Up Skills

To level up your skills, the character needs to at least reach Phase 1. From there, you can just tap the red vertical bar with the “up” arrow on the right side of the skill’s description. Skills can be leveled up to LV10.

In the Skill Upgrade popup window, make sure that you have enough of the required upgrade materials. Pay the required amount of DisCoins to complete the upgrade. The actual fodder materials may vary from character to character but one resource type is going to be needed by all characters: Skill Modules. These items can be obtained from the Secret Society or Restricted Area Investigation (Instance).

Mania Intensify

This special passive effect gets activated once the character reaches Phase 2. This ability can't be leveled up but remains to be very useful nonetheless. You’ll be able to see the description of this effect by tapping the Mania Intensify portion in the lower-right corner of the character’s Info screen.

Skill Improvements (via Shackle)

Occasionally, some skills get improved through the Shackle system, as shown below. This system allows you to use Marks to improve a character’s Sync Rate stage. Each character has five Sync Rate stages; and by “intensifying” each stage, the sinner will gain access to permanent stat boosts and even more powerful personal buffs. You’ll be able to review these effects from the Shackle Menu.

If you get copies of the same character, you’ll obtain their Marks. You can only use Marks of the same character to improve their Sync Rate. Alternatively, you can also generic Sinner Marks that can be used on any Sinner as a substitute for their marks. This is very useful since character marks can be extremely hard to collect since you’ll be relying on your luck to get their copies again. Take note that Sinner Marks also follow some sort of rarity. For example, Sinner Mark (A) can only be used on A-rank Sinners below. For S-rank sinners, you specifically need Sinner Mark (S).
