Weapon Types

Blue Archive is a military strategy RPG that takes place in the academy city of Kivotos where players take the role of an advisor to the Federal Investigation Club (Schale) and will be tasked in resolving a myriad of incidents that happen within the academy city. Students play a pivotal role in the game as they're your individual units with various roles, strengths, weaknesses, and of course, personality. In our Weapon Type Guide, we will discuss the various weapons used by students and how these weapons affect their behavior and tactics during combat.

For students you own, you can see their weapon type from their profile screen, to the left of the equipment/accessories row. For students you don’t own yet, their weapon types are not explicitly indicated but some are obviously displayed in their art.

Each student that you can recruit will come along with their signature weapon by default. These weapons can’t be swapped out, changed, or upgraded. These weapons have no special names as well so you’ll only know a character’s weapon based on one of the designations below:

As displayed above, most weapon types deal normal damage to enemies. At the same time, most of them are single-target only. The other weapon types like GL and RL deal AoE or splash damage, affecting multiple enemies within an area. Finally, we have the RG (railgun) which can pierce through multiple targets, damaging all of them in the process.

These weapons will have different maximum ranges as well, which will determine the student’s position in the field. Their weapons’ range will allow them to pick the ideal distance to the nearest enemy in order to attack. For example, SG (Shotguns) will require users to be up-close and personal while SR (sniper rifle) users will stay in the back and attack within their maximum range possible.
