The first day it showed up it had a golden snitch over the field for energy. I tapped it and after 2 days it still has not returned. Maybe a glitch in the game?

I tapped the golden snitch and got energy yesterday. I have gone back a few times and no snitch.

Yes, you need to tap golden snitch. Try to move it away from locked entrance.
