Every time you perform anything in game, your Lord is given equivalent experience points. When you gather enough experience points, you get to level-up your lord level. When your level goes up, you will be given 5 points of upgrade which you can freely allocate in any of your passive skills. These skills are separated into 3 main categories; Battle, Development, and Assist.

What are the Lord Skills for in Days of Empire?

Battle - your lord’s battle skills mainly help improve your troops ability to wage war. Among the skills that are included in this category are those that improve your troops’ Defense, HP, and Attack.

Development - your lord’s development skills mainly help improve your ability to quickly gather resources and develop your castle. Among the skills that are included in this category are the reduction of build upgrade time, reduction of research time, increase the yield of your farms, and increase the collection speed of your troops gathering from resource tiles.

Assist - your lord’s assist skills mainly help improve your ability to efficiently train troops and make traps, as well as improve your troops’ ability to engage marauders. Among the skills that are included in this category are increase in marching speed (when attacking marauders), increase in hospital capacity, increases your marching speed (in general), increase in stamina recovery, and stuff related to improving trap-making.

To get to your lord’s Skill Tree, simply click on your avatar (upper most left part of the screen), which opens up a window showing details of your Lord, click the middle icon at the bottom of the screen (opened book icon) to access your skills.

Quick Tip:

You can pick presets for the skills that you want to be enabled. Although during your early levels in the game, it is wise to invest heavily on Development skills and a few of the Assist skills as you’d technically won’t do much when it comes to battles at this point. However, once you have the capacity to engage battles with other players, it is important to know that you can do another preset of skills -- dedicated heavily on improving your battle skills. You also have the option to reset these presets but it will set you back 1000 gold.

How do you level up your Lord?

When you pursue some quests in the game, it usually rewards you with equivalent experience points for your Lord. Among the basic actions that increase your experience points are;

1. Attacking marauders

2. Performing loot caravan

3. Gathering resources in the kingdom

4. Performing in system-generated events

5. Using the EXP point items (that are usually earned from different events and quests).

Quick Tip:

Did you ever wonder why your Lord Level is different from your Castle Level? This is mainly because, Castle level, apart from imparting a huge percentage in your permanent power, mainly dictates the maximum level of upgrade you could perform on your facilities inside the citadel. On the other hand, your Lord Level mainly enables you to learn and improve on your Lord’s passive skills -- that will not only improve your permanent power in the game (increases by a thousand every time you learn or upgrade your skills), but are also beneficial in growing your city as well as permanently improve the battle worthiness of your troops.
