Starting out your game in Monkey King: Arena of Heroes will provide you with a tutorial section that provides you with story elements inspired by Journey to the West. In order for you to learn more about the game’s lore and characters, you will need to play through the game’s campaign, also known as Adventure.

In this page, we’ll provide you with details regarding how the story progresses in this game, as well as the different modes available, and benefits for completing them. Completing the game’s different story elements will not only let you learn about the lore, but you’ll also be able to make your heroes stronger along the way.

How Story Progression works

After you have played through the game’s tutorial, you will notice that a lot of the game’s story is portrayed through the dialogue and interactions of different characters in the game. Your main character will be going through different locations and encounter different enemies that they will be battling. All of this progression is done through the Adventure section from the main menu. This will be your go-to place in order to acquire experience and resources. As such, you’ll be leveling up your account level, which will determine your heroes’ level cap.

  • Adventure Modes: There are two types of modes that are available when playing through the story. Common, and Elite. Common mode will provide you with the main story, as well as enemies that have steady progression in terms of power. There will be instances where specific account levels are required in order for you to continue as well. Elite mode on the other hand, provides you with another section that can provide you with difficult challenges, the chapters here are separate from the main story.

[li]Chapters and Stages: When playing, you’ll be selecting a stage that is sorted by Chapter. Each chapter has a set number of sub-stages that you can battle, and they each provide you with rewards. Later chapters will have more sub-stages as well.

  • Star-Rating Chests and Chapter Rewards

Aside from completing through the story and dialogue, there are rewards that you can acquire for completing through the different stages and chapters. Aside from regular rewards such as resources for completing specific stages, you can get extra rewards based on your performance for the campaign.

  • Star-Rating Chests: Completing a battle in the game’s adventure will provide you with stars based on your performance. 3 Stars means that you have completed the stage with a perfect victory, and you can save up these stars in order to get star-rating chests. You can get rewards from three chests every substage if you acquire 7, 14, and 21 stars.

  • Chapter Rewards: If you have defeated all stages available within a given chapter, you can acquire a chapter reward as a bonus. You can view the chapter reward on the upper-left side of the world map.

Eventually, you might find stages in the game to become challenging as you unlock more of them. Don’t forget to improve your heroes as well by leveling them up, providing them with breakthroughs, armaments, relics, and more.
