How Battles Work
More Monkey King: Arena of Heroes
Games that provide you with a variety of heroes give you differences in terms of gameplay. When playing mobile hero collectors, you’re either playing with an active style where you need to use the skills of your characters, or perhaps you have a passive style where the heroes that you have will attack on their own. In Monkey King: Arena of Heroes, you might be wondering what style of gameplay is available for you.
In this page, we’ll check out how battles work in the game. With the story-driven nature that you’ll be experiencing, as well as how many features you’ll be unlocking, having an idea how to play will help you out in making your own daily routine when logging in.
Type of Gameplay available
When playing Monkey King: Arena of Heroes for the first time, you’ll be asked to answer a short question about what type of gameplay you prefer. In turn, you’ll be suggested with a main hero, but you have the freedom to pick which one to play. This Hero will be your main character for the story, and you’ll be going through different dialogues and scenarios to learn more about the characters.
You’ll notice that the game’s tutorial provides a glimpse of the gameplay. You get to have a team of heroes deployed when fighting enemies, and your main goal is to defeat them by taking out their HP. Once each hero has their skill gauge full, they will use their special skill, which often includes a special animated cutscene.
Once the tutorial ends, you’ll be able to play through the game’s adventure mode which is the main campaign. Here, you’ll be going through different chapters and sub-stages, where your goal is to defeat all enemies. Depending on your performance, you can get up to 3-Stars for a perfect clear.
When starting out, you will have 3 characters that you can use. Your main character, and 2 story characters will help you learn about the basics. You will then need to unlock features such as adding more slots to your team by progressing and leveling up your account level. Once you have unlocked all slots, you can have up to 6 characters deployed. When fighting, you will notice that all battles are automatically done.
Hero roles and skills
If fights are done automatically, you might be wondering what you can do in order to affect the battles. Since Monkey King: Arena of Heroes has gacha elements, the heroes that you can collect can differ in terms of rarity, roles, and skills. In order to get the best heroes available, you’ll want to be able to collect Legendary heroes since they have the highest potential.
When checking your team, you’ll also be able to view their roles such as Tank, DPS, Healer, and so on. Having a balanced composition will definitely help you in your progress, so learning about the roles will give you an idea of what their skills are supposed to be. Here are the different roles available in the game:
Role | Purpose in Battle |
---|---|
DPS | DPS heroes refer to Damage per Second, therefore this type of hero needs to focus on dealing as much damage as they can with their offensive skills. They are your main heroes that you need to use in order to defeat the opposing team by reducing their HP as fast as possible. |
Control | Control heroes can inflict status conditions that can turn the tide of battle such as stunning them or inflicting debuffs. |
Support | Support heroes can use skills that provide benefits in battle such as buffs, restoration of rage points, and more. |
Healing | Healing heroes focus on restoring the HP of their teammates. They can target one hero with the lowest HP, as well as provide healing to the entire team. |
Tank | Tank heroes are placed at the front in order to take as much damage as possible while other heroes do their roles. Tanks have defensive skills, and they can also have debuffs for opponents. |
Not only should you be mindful of the roles that each hero has, but you must also take into consideration their placement once you deploy them. You can either place up to three heroes on the front or at the back. Some characters have skills that focus on specific rows, so changing up your positioning can help determine if a battle can be won.
Skipping battles instantly
Since there are a lot of chapters and sub-stages, you might be wondering if there’s a way to finish battles faster. Aside from the speed boost feature that you can unlock, some battles in the game will let you skip them if your current team CP is really high enough.
When battling against enemies, you can skip and finish a match by tapping on the skip button on the lower-right side. This can appear at the beginning of a battle, but it can also appear during the middle or later time of battle once enough enemies have been defeated.
Skipping battles cannot be done automatically, therefore you must watch out for this button to appear. You can use the skips on different modes in the game as well so you must check each battle that you have. This feature will definitely save time for you!
