How do you remove dead castles?

Attack the castle repeatedly dropping it's estate defense to zero. Then it will teleport away to a random location.

How do you know when they are zeroed out?

It will port away. Scout it and look for wall defense. Hit the castle once and let it sit for 30 minutes, it burns. Scout it every so often and you'll see the wall defense decreasing
