What are Mystic Axies?

Axie Infinity Guide

Last Updated:

Axie Infinity is a play-to-earn game where players use a team of creatures called Axies in battling other players or clearing adventure stages. Players can earn SLP which can be converted to Ethereum, and finally, exchanged to real money should they wish to. In this short article, we will discuss what is a Mystic Axie and why they’re incredibly valuable.

A Mystic Axie is an axie born with a Mystic part. When Origin axies are rolled, each of the 6 body parts has a 1/18 chance of becoming a mystic part. Axies can also possess more than 1 mystic part, making them incredibly rarer. Only ~30% of Origin Axies possess a Mystic part. And all origin axies are capped at a total of 4088, making them forever rare and expensive.

The most expensive Mystic Axie sold recently (as of December 2021) is the one called Angel, which sold for 300 ETH (or around 1.1M USD). This Beast axie has 3 mystic parts, which is incredibly rare. It’s really hard to determine which mystic axie has the “real” price since as of this writing, we spotted a 1 mystic axie worth over 70M USD. The marketplace has a 4/ mystic axie that’s worth 7.5M USD which is somewhat tame to the 13.3M 3/ mystic.

What are Mystic Axies?

Even now, axies with 1 mystic part are still quite expensive and way out of reach for the majority of players. In our opinion, Mystic Axies are just there for novelty and unless you’re able to get your hands on one without breaking the bank, they can be incredible investments if you get someone to purchase it.

For now, it’s worth emphasizing that mystic axies have no significant advantage over normal ones in combat or performance (except prestige and rarity). However, this can change once the developer rolls out updates in the future.
