Axie Infinity is a play-to-earn game where players use a team of creatures called Axies in battling other players or clearing adventure stages. In our guide, we will provide a detailed tutorial on how to download and play Axie Infinity on mobile.

So far, the game can only be installed on Android devices, with the option for iOS users to participate on a very limited “test flight”.

For android apps, installing an app will only require you to access the playstore, search for the app, download, and install it. Unfortunately, Axie Infinity’s mobile app is not listed in the playstore and can only be installed using APK. APK or Android Package File is basically an installer for android devices that allows you install apps when run. However, since APKs can become a major source of security threats (especially when used carelessly), the feature to run them on android devices is not encouraged or enabled by default. Thankfully, there’s a way to circumvent this - provided that you know and acknowledge the risks of doing so.

Disclaimer: For this tutorial, we will only get the APK for Axie Infinity directly from Sky Mavis’ site. Installation of APKs through third-party and unsecured sites is entirely your responsibility and we will not be held liable for any issues that may erupt for uneducated and careless use of unofficial and unsecured APKs other than from legitimate sources.

Enable APK Installation

Here, we’ll list some steps on how to allow your android device to install APK files for Android versions 8 and above.

For Samsung Devices

1. Launch your phone’s Settings

2. Go to Biometrics and security

3. Tap “Install unknown apps”

4. Choose the browser where you’ll download the APKs from. (In this case Google Chrome)

5. Toggle “Allow app installs” on.

For Other Android Devices

1. Launch your phone’s Settings

2. Go to “Security & privacy” and tap “More Settings”

3. Tap “Install apps from external sources”

4. Choose the browser where you’ll download the APKs from. (In this case Google Chrome)

5. Toggle “Allow app installs” on.

Preparation

Before we get started, since Axie Infinity has cryptocurrency and money involved, you’ll need to complete additional steps first prior to downloading and installing the game itself. We highly recommend doing the steps below on a PC for convenience.

Installation Process

In this page, we will discuss the fourth step: downloading and playing the game. First, access the game’s official download link using your mobile browser. (Alternatively, you can just google “Sky Mavis Download” to access the link more conveniently) Under “Mobile” tap the Android (APK) button.

You’ll get a warning about the APRK being harmful. Tap “Continue anyway” and wait for the download to complete. Once done, tap the three-dots (kebab) menu in the upper-right corner of the browser then tap Downloads. From the Download list, tap the APK file then tap Install. Wait for the installation to finish then tap Open.

This will launch the game. You can’t log in manually using your credentials on mobile so you’ll need to scan the QR code from the Mavis Hub on the PC. To get the unique QR code, launch Mavis Hub on the PC, then click the gear icon beside the player name in the lower-left corner of the screen. From there, tap the Show QR Code button. Scan the QR code using the provided button in the Axie mobile app and once successful, you’ll be able to play the game on mobile.

Remember, DO NOT SHARE this QR code to anyone. If you do, anybody can simply use the QR code to log in to your account on other mobile devices without hassle!

Congratulations for installing the game! Your session only lasts for 14 days. After that, you’ll have to scan the QR code again to log back in.
