Which Heroes to Pick

During the early stages of the game, it is almost impossible to get an orange hero aside from Jing Ke which will be handed to you within the tutorial phase. He is a tank type of hero - so you should put him in the front line. Depending on what type of character you pick, you'll have to adjust on types of heroes you'll have to put in your team.

The Basic Rule of Thumb when Putting together a Team:

Front: 2 Tanks or 1 Tank and 1 Control

Back: 2 Damage Dealers (AOE / Control), 1 Healer.

It doesn't mater if you've got only Jing Ke as your Orange Hero at first. A couple purple ones should easily get you to stage 200 or so in the game for as long as you constantly level them up and equip them with appropriate gears. Maintain the balance of the team as suggested on the combination stated above. If you'll manage to get a hold of more orange heroes later on, here are some of the best bet and the reason for picking them.

Jing Ke: Jing Ke is a Tank, and your very first orange quality hero in the game. He would probably be securing a position in your roster and get you to the advanced stages of the game up until you earned someone better than him like Xiang Yu for instance.

Xiang Yu: Xiang Yu is probably the beefiest among all Tank heroes in the game, as he has the highest defense stat (at least among orange heroes).

Yang Yuhuan: If Xiang Yu is the best tank among all orange heroes, Yang Yuhuan is the orange hero healer counterpart.

Di Renjie: Reasonably well balanced hero with above normal stats. The thing that makes him a good choice is that his hero shards are easily obtained in the game -- meaning powering him up is relatively a bit more easier compared to other heroes.

That said, it is most likely that you should go for another Tank or and AOE/Control type for your main character. Nonetheless, if this isn't your play style, you can always try other types and just try to balance the combination of you party.

Additional Tip:

Do not rely on just the base Attributes of heroes. You can always check your heroes' attributes but also make sure to see what special skills they have to offer. Additionally, see to it that you give your heroes equipment that is imbued with relative gems that improve their overall effectiveness. For instance, Tank Heroes with HP and Defense boosting gems, or damage dealers with Attack, and Accuracy boosting gems.
