Character
Royal Chaos–Enter A Dreamlike Kingdom of Romance Guide
When you start the game, you basically get the chance to pick what type of character you want to play. In the game, this is addressed as your character's career. There are 4 types of careers and mainly differs in the role they play when it comes to performing battles. Among the choices are the following:
Imperial Medic (Control)
Provides reasonable damage to enemies and has a perk of controlling the opponents' action. The Imperial Medic's debilitating buffs mainly affects the flow of the enemies' movements or attack which makes him/her very useful as a damage control type of character.
Imperial Gourmet (Healer)
Although not particularly good in doing the damage himself/herself, an Imperial Gourmet is without a doubt a troublesome key character if assisted by relatively strong heroes. Basically playing the part of a healer, it also provides passive buffs to his/her team. Skills includes revive or full health replenish.
Scholar (AoE)
Heavy damage dealer, with wide ranged attacks. If you are inclined to play as the damage dealer yourself, this character is your best bet. Mainly positioned at the back end of the formation, regardless of its weak defense, you can go wrong with a full offense tactic. The Scholar plays the part of being the crowd damage dealer.
Guard (Tank)
Particularly your best bet if you are inclined to performing melee attacks and mainly serve as the party's Tank. A guard has a high level of survivability thanks to its enormous HP. Given that a tank is usually supposed to fill the front lines, it is equipped with buffs to increase defense, as well as enormous attack power.
When you start the game, you'll see that each profession has different sets of skills (mainly attuned to their key role in the party) and initial outfits. Also, you'd really not feel any difficulties progressing through the first few levels (checkpoints) while playing the story mode - up until you get towards higher ranks (Lower 4 above).
Not until you get to these high enough levels (usually when you've unlocked most of the game's basic functions), will you be able to distinguish the different roles of each character, and how different heroes are needed to be paired with your character in order to be effective in battles.
