Punishing Gray Raven is a visually-stunning, action-packed ARPG set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by the Corrupted. The game has a variety of different characters, each with their own set of skills, abilities, attack styles and more. While all characters in the game are viable, there are characters that are insanely strong by default while others will require a bit of investment to be on par with them. In our Punishing Gray Raven Battle Points (BP), we will discuss some tips to increase your individual constructs’ BP.

Combat is the very essence of the game. The stronger your characters, the easier time you’ll have in clearing more content of the game. This combat prowess is measured in BP or Battle Power. There are several factors affecting BP and knowing how to manage and improve them will help you in clearing more difficult challenges (with better rewards).

How to check your Battle Power

You can immediately see your constructs’ BP by accessing the Members button in the lower-right corner of the screen. This will take you to the construct management screen where you can browse and manage all constructs you have in possession. Their BP will be displayed right under their names.

When selecting a mission, the individual BP of your team members will also be displayed. Missions normally have a recommended BP value; you can use that to gauge your team’s strength and check if they’re ready to clear that particular mission. Otherwise, you have to work on improving their BP. Please see below.

Upgrade Constructs (Level Up)

Upgrading your characters will permanently increase their base stats: Health, Attack, Defense, and Critical. The level cap of your constructs is tied to your Commander Level so you can’t overlevel your characters and you have to ensure that you do activities and missions to increase your Commander Level so you can level up your constructs further.

Leveling up your constructs will require the use of Construct EXP Pods. There are three sizes: M, L, and XL. These pod sizes correspond to the amount of EXP earned by the construct upon using them. You can farm Construct EXP Pods by completing the Special Training resource map and clearing story missions to name a few.

Promote Constructs (Rank Up)

Promoting constructs also permanently boosts their base stats. This process requires the following:

* Construct reaches the required level

* Clear the required story progress

* Indicated amount of cogs.

Since promotion is directly tied to your progress with the story missions and your construct level, there’s really no reason not to promote your main characters. Always promote the constructs you regularly use whenever possible to further increase their BP.

Evolve Constructs (Class Up)

Evolution allows your construct to increase their tier by one level. (Class B can be evolved to Class A, Class S to SS, and so on). Using this feature, all constructs can reach the highest grade (SSS+). This is another process that you should always do because of the immense permanent stat boosts your construct will get from evolving.

How to increase Battle Points (BP)

Each character has 10 chip terminals that will provide stat boosts when activated. You have to activate all chip terminals to fully evolve a character to the next upper class. Activating chip terminals will require the specific construct’s Shards. After activating all 10 terminals, pay the necessary amount of cogs to complete the evolution to the next class. The number of terminals you have to activate again to move further to the next class will remain the same but the amount of shards required to activate each terminal will increase as your construct’s class increases. For example, to evolve an A-class construct to S-rank, you’ll need to collect a total of 20 shards, to evolve an S-class construct to SS, you’ll need around 30 shards, and to evolve at SS construct to SSS requires 90 shards.

Some shards can be bought from the shop daily at limited amounts but the majority of shards you’ll get will come from getting duplicate copies of the construct you already own by pulling them via Research or exchanging the Phantom Pain Scar currency in the Phantom Pain Cage (Phantom Shop). You can also farm for specific shards through the Interlude battles. You can only attempt Interlude challenges twice a day, at 30 serum each. You'll get a shard for the selected character for completing these challenges.

Enhance Skills

Each construct has 5 skill slots; three for the different signal orb skills, one for active skills (basic attack, signature move, and QTE), and Passive skills. Skill levels are tied to the character’s own level so you can only level up their skills up to the point that their level allows them to. To enhance a skill, the construct needs to meet the level requirement. After meeting the level requirement, you’ll then need to use the required amount of Skill Points and cogs. The amount required to level up a skill permanently will increase as the skill level also increases. Skill points can be farmed from the Resource Mission - Battle Exercise stage.

Red, Yellow, and Blue orbs are individual skills unique to the character so you have to enhance them individually to better increase their effectiveness. Each character also has access to 5 active skills. However, 2-3 of them can only be unlocked after the construct becomes S-rank and becomes fully Awakened. Similar with active skills, constructs have 5 passive skills though 3 of them can only be unlocked after the construct evolves to SS, SSS, and SSS+ respectively.

Level Up and Overclock Weapons

Weapons can be leveled up by “feeding” them other weapons and/or weapon upgrade materials to increase their stats. After reaching their max level, you have to Overclock them using the required Overclock materials. Overclocking increases the level and stat cap of the weapon and resets its level back to 1. Even after the level resets, the weapon’s stats will be retained. You can repeat the process until the weapon is fully overlocked. Weapons with different ranks will have different conditions and resource requirements for overlocking. Overlock materials are mainly harvested from Resource Mission - Military Hardware. For more information about improving your weapons, please check our Weapon Improvement Guide.

Level Up and Overclock Memories

Memories serve as accessory sets in the game. Each memory will provide stat bonuses; however, including 2-pc and 4-pc sets of the same memory will activate bonus effects as necessary. Similar to weapons, you can also level up your memories and overclock them. Overclocking increases the level and stat cap of the memory and resets its level back to 1. Even after the level resets, the memory’s stats will be retained. Overlock materials are mainly harvested from Resource Mission - Military Hardware. For more information about improving your memories, please check our Memory Training Guide.

Improving your BP will help you tackle more challenging content in the game. As most aspects of your BP are tied to your own progress as a commandant, it’s really recommended to at least play regularly to ensure that you have the necessary resources to improve your characters.
