The game has several ways of improving a character’s combat power; some through stat bonuses that are applied to all characters while most options are directly applied or improved upon individual characters. In our Awakening Guide, we will discuss how to Awaken your characters to unlock more of their potential.

One Punch Man - The Strongest is the mobile game adaptation of the popular shonen manga and anime series that centers around the titular One Punch Man. Players can’t play as Saitama himself but they’ll be able to recruit various heroes, villains, and more to form a powerful team they can use to clear the various game content.

Awakening is a feature that is tied to your account level. Once you have the feature unlocked, you’ll be able to awaken characters 3-stars or above. You can do this from their own character detail screens. It is also a tedious multi-step process that will require additional materials to farm and more resources to spend.

There are five nodes that you have to upgrade, each node having multiple levels to be fully upgraded. At the first level, you’ll need to upgrade each node up to LV2, at the second awakening star, you’ll need to upgrade the nodes to LV3, and so on. Node upgrades require three materials: Stat Disks and Core Power. All of these can be obtained from the Awakening Trials. You can also see the preview of the awakening bonuses by tapping the orange magnifying glass icon in the lower-right corner of the awakening window.

After upgrading all the nodes, you still have to pay the Activation Cost, which will require the character’s shards and Awakening Chips. Character shards can be obtained from Extreme Training mode, which is a cooperative boss battle mode where you have to team up with other players to fight the available characters for the day and have a chance to obtain their shards. Awakening Chips can be obtained from Training Center expeditions among other sources.

After successfully activating the Awakening Star, your character will gain a purple star on their profile and you’ll be able to start working on the next star if you have already met the requirements for it. Otherwise, the game will give you details about the conditions you need to meet in order to make the upgrade nodes available again. Once your character reaches 5-star Awakening, their Passive Skill’s effect will be greatly improved.
