Last Updated:

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is an MMOPRG where players take control of a character they chose and explore the beautiful and vibrant world as imagined by Studio Ghibli and Level 5. The world is vast and while there’s a fast-travel option in the game, it’s still good to know that you can have a trusty mount that you can use to ferry you around - in style. In our Mounts Guide we will discuss how mounts work in the game.

Mounts Overview

Mounts are your reliable mode of transport in the game. Once unlocked, the game will automatically summon your mount when you’re moving from one point to another. If the location that you’re trying to reach is too far, then you’ll get the option to either fast-travel or travel by foot. Selecting the latter will allow you to travel using your mount. You can’t summon mounts in the middle of battle and your character will automatically dismount upon entering combat.

While mounted (equipped), the selected mount will provide 100% of its CP to the player. If dismounted, the mount will provide 30% of its CP instead. This also means that if you have managed to get more mounts, the ones on reserve will still be able to contribute towards your total CP.

Mounts Guide

Mounts have grades, ranging from 1* to 6*. The first mount, Catarumpus is a 1* mount but it can be upgraded to a higher grade, after training it and maxing out its stats. (You’ll need to use the mount’s Amber as upgrade material) You can train your mounts by spending Feather Teasers and gold. Training has three possible results: success, super success, and failure.

* Success increases stats at normal value

* Super Success increases stats by large amount

* Failure has no stat increase or any negative effect to the mount; you’ll only lose the material and gold spent.

How to Unlock Mounts

Continue with the main story until you reach the point where you’ll have to increase Evermore’s reputation grade to LV3. To help you accomplish this, you’ll need to do a bunch of reputation quests. The reputation quest that will unlock this mount is called ‘Unexpected Company' given by Great Uncle Autumn. Like the other quests in the game, it’s very straightforward as the game’s auto-tracker will complete the objectives for you. After completing the quest, you’ll get the Catarumpus at your call.
