Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is an MMOPRG where players take control of a character they chose and explore the beautiful and vibrant world as imagined by Studio Ghibli and Level 5. Aside from the standard quests, the game also has a lot of other gameplay modes where players can collect valuable resources and materials to power up their character, familiar, weapons etc. Familiar’s Cradle is a power up instance/dungeon where you can get familiar-specific resources. In our Familiar’s Cradle guide we will discuss the basics of this game mode.

Overview

Familiar’s Cradle is a power up instance/dungeon where you can get familiar-specific resources like Evolution Fruits, Beans (level up fodder), Sand of Time (quicker hatching), Familiar Egg (hatching new familiars), and Dream Shard (hatching material). Like other permanent instances in the game, the Familiar’s Cradle gets refreshed as part of the game’s daily scheduled reset.

You can enter the Cradle once per day for free. Subsequent entries will cost Diamonds. Entries via diamond purchases are limited to three times a day.

The Cradle’s rewards get rotated in a regular schedule. While the core reward types remain the same, the element of Evolution Fruits and Beans changes daily. This is quite important since using consumables of the same element yields bonus progression. In this case, if you use beans to level up a familiar of the same element, the familiar will get a considerable bonus EXP compared to using a different element bean.

The Cradle also has a tier system which determines the difficulty of enemies and the quality and amount of rewards. You must at least meet or exceed the Suggested CP value for a particular tier. The next tier will be unlocked after you successfully clear and 3-star the current tier.

Gameplay Basics

This mode’s gameplay is simple; you just need to protect three familiar eggs from the attacking Boar Tribe hostiles for the duration of the challenge. Once the timer runs out, the mode will end and you’ll be graded based on the number of eggs that survived. They’ll focus on destroying the eggs but as soon as you hit them, they’ll turn their aggro on you.

Each egg has a health bar and your rating will depend on the number of eggs that remain intact. (see below). There are also surrounding power ups that you can pick up to give yourself a bit of advantage in battle. Finally, all boar tribe warriors are weak against Fire so equip fire-type weapons and deploy fire familiars to help.

Rating and Auto-Clear

You’ll get more rewards depending on your star rating. A full 3-stars will grant the best rewards and unlock the next difficulty. Getting at least a 1-star rating will unlock Auto-Clear. You’ll get a star for each successfully protected familiar egg. Bonus rewards are given depending on the number of boars you’ve defeated during the session.

Once Auto-Clear is available, you can instantly collect the rewards equal to the highest difficulty (tier) you’ve successfully cleared without replaying it. Using Auto-Clear will use your entry pass as well.

Clearing the Familiar’s Cradle will also add some activity points that will count towards your Dailies (daily tasks) gauge. You can conveniently access the Familiar’s Cradle entry screen by tapping the Menu button on the top-right > select Challenge > tap Power Up > then select Familiar’s Cradle.
