Familiar Toys
More Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds
Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is an MMOPRG where players take control of a character they chose and explore the beautiful and vibrant world as imagined by Studio Ghibli and Level 5. Familiars are an integral part of your adventure, providing buffs to your character, and aiding you in battle. Aside from managing their levels, enhancements, and stats, you can also give them equipment in the form of Toys. In our Familiar Toys guide we will discuss these familiar-exclusive equipment and how to improve them.
Equipping Toys
Toys are exclusively for familiars only. Each toy has an immediate CP and stat boost. Higher-grade toys provide higher CP, boosts two or more stats, and even special or conditional effects. You can collect toys by buying them from the Traveling Merchant, defeating the Familiar Adventure boss, or from the Kingdom’s Auction House.Familiars have three toy slots. The number of unlocked slots by default will depend on the familiar’s grade. 1* and 2* familiars will only have one slot unlocked by default while 3* and 4* familiars will have two slots unlocked. To unlock the third slot, familiars need to reach at least 5*. You can freely equip and unequip toys without any cost.
When viewing the Equip option, you’ll be able to see if a familiar has some toys equipped or not. This is represented by the small dots in the top-right corner of their portraits. Blue dots indicate that toys are equipped while empty dots indicate that there are no toys equipped on any slot. The dots apply to both locked and unlocked slots.
Toy Types
As of this guide’s writing, there are three recurring toy types. You may encounter additional types as you progress in the game or through future updates. Here are the different toy types, in their 3-star variants. 1* and 2* variants only have one stat boosted.Toy Type | Boosted Stat |
---|---|
Fallen Tree Branch | DEF, HP |
Round Pebble | ATK, DEF |
Clear Crystal | ATK, HP |
There are also special toy types, such is the one below. This 4* toy boosts three stats, boasts really high CP, and provides bonus effects. These are some of the best toy types but they’re incredibly rare and usually very hard to get.
Combining Toys
You can combine toys of the same grade for a chance to get one of the higher grades. The success rate is determined by the grades (stars) of the toys being combined. Unfortunately, there are no ways to improve the success rate of combining toys, unlike the other chance-based features in the game. If the combination attempt fails, a random toy of the same grade will be returned, and a four-leaf clover will be given as well. As of this writing, there are also no other methods of improving the toys like leveling them up or enhancing them. Here are the success rates of various toy grades:
Toy Grade | Success Rate |
---|---|
1-star | 100% |
2-star | 70% |
3-star | 50% |
4-star | 20% |
5-star | 10% |
Since toys can be hard to come by, it’s better to at least have a full 2-star set equipped on your main familiars, then gradually combine and replace them as you get more copies. That way, your familiars will get the much needed CP boosts from various toys while you’re building your inventory.
