What is Research and Why It's Important

Research is conducted in the University building in the game, and it is something that may be overlooked by people not familiar with this genre of games, but it's something that is super important to boost your troop strength, base defense and economy in Clash of Empire and other similar games. Let's take a look at the different types of research and what you should be choosing to research at the beginning and later stages of the game.

Different Types of Research

Research is conducted at The University, it is a building just to the right of the Castle. Research is split between 5 different branches; Resource, Development, Defense, Military and Advanced Military. At the beginning of the game Advanced Military research is not available as an option.

The names of the research are the big clues to what each one will do and in the beginning of the game you should have enough resources to max out the research in all four of the available branches up to the allowed level according to the level of your university. Research is fast at the early levels, although you can still ask for alliance help and use speedup s to get things done faster.

The main thing holding you back from conducting more research will be your university level, so keep upgrading your university as much as you can, this will also probably involve keeping your castle upgraded too and the other pre-requisites for that as well.

Later on when the research items start to take significantly more resources and time, you'll need to decide what is more important to you, military or resources. In the beginning of the game, it is less likely you'll be involved in wars and if you do, a higher power player will likely crush you anyway, so it's best in my opinion to make resources your primary focus for research.
