More Clash of Empire: Strategic Empire Age
The Castle is the main building in Clash of Empire. Upgrading the castle is the key to unlocking more levels for your other buildings, unlocking new research and generally becoming stronger overall in the game. But the castle cannot be upgraded alone, there are many prerequisites before you can upgrade to a new castle level usually, keep an eye out for what they are when you try to upgrade the castle to the next level.
Upgrading the Castle
It's really important to keep upgrading your castle whenever you can. It is the most important building in the game, but also the one that requires the most resources to upgrade. Upgrading the castle increases your overall power level, unlocks new building levels and can add to your march sizes and workmen numbers sometimes. Upgrading the castle can also unlock new areas around your City.
There are also special upgrade rewards that you get one time for each new castle level, check the upgrade icon with the yellow arrow on it to collect these rewards if you've not been doing so already.
Castle Levels
The Castle can be upgraded to Level 30, each level you increase the Castle will increase the building power and the march capacity, also at key milestone levels it will increase the number of workmen, up to 40 when you reach Castle level 30.

Castle Skins
In Clash of Empire you have the option of selecting a skin for your Castle. Different skins will give you city different buff effects. But you have to unlock the skins before you can use them. New skins are usually unlocked in different events. Here is a rundown of currently available skins and what effect they will have on your City.

Castle Decorations
Apart from skins, you can also customise your appearance in the game with plaques, avatar frames and troop marches. Check them out in the skins menu for how to obtain the different options and to see if they have any effect on your City.
City Buffs
The other item in the Castle menu is the City Buffs control, here you can activate certain buffs for your City to enjoy for a limited time period. Here is a rundown of the different City buffs and what they do.
Peace Shield - This will protect your City from attacks for a limited time period. Really useful in war situations when you need some sleep!
Attack Boost - Increases the attack of all troops for a set percentage for a set period of time depending on which attack boost you use. The maximum currently is a 30% attack boost.
Troop Defense - Increase the defense of all of your troops for a set percentage for a set period of time depending on which defense boost you use. The maximum currently is a 35% defense boost.
March Capacity Boost - Increase your march capacity by up top 50% with this buff.
24 Hours Fake Army - Fool the enemy with this buff, they'll thing you have 1-3x as many troops as you really have, perhaps this will put them off attacking you!
Anti Scout - Activating this buff will stop other players from scouting you and seeing your resources and army size.
Upkeep Reduction - This will reduce the amount of resources needed for the upkeep of your army
Gather Boost - This will increase the resources gathering speed on the map by 50% or 100% for a set period of time.
Summary
The Castle is easily the most important building in the game. Keep upgrading whenever you can to unlock more workmen at key milestone levels. Look out for special events where you can get new City skins that you can get buffs from and remember to use the City buffs such as the peace shield whenever you need them.
